I love the vintage ornaments. I have an old soul I guess. My favorite gift is a handmade item, made with love. I have ornaments handmade by my grandmother that are dear to me. I have stitched for many years but I didn't start making ornaments until 3 years ago. So now my tree is decorated with old and new crafty ornaments and it makes me so happy! Merry Christmas to you and thanks for digging out some of your oldies!

Love the vintage magazines. I sometimes find them at thrift stores very reasonable. I think someone kept them for years and when they pass their children pass them on and I rescue them.

I love your flip throughs of old magazines. I started stitching in the 90’s so those magazines bring back a lot of memories. Unfortunately I throw things away when “I think” I am done with things. I’m searching for The Love of Cross Stitch Leisure Arts magazine that had a young child sitting on a window sill looking out at the moon and stars. The chart was done on a dark blue Aida. I use to have that magazine. 😢 Would you or know of anyone who might have that magazine? It had to be in the 90’s. I would surely squeal with delight if I ever found her! ❤
@luhustitchesАй бұрын
Oh my ! That sounds like a lovely one. I’m afraid I don’t have that one nor do I know of anyone who does? Was it on the front cover? Otherwise keep searching for it on EBay or Etsy. Also keep an eye on FB Marketplace in your area…sometimes people are clearing out and will have needlework listed.

Oh my I enjoyed this so much! I am also "a certain age" 😅. My first cross stitch project was when i was 13 in 1976 and it was a Holly Hobbie. I made it into a pillow, and when I got married and left it behind in my old room, my little sister adopted it and still has it. I kinda want it back, but she won't part with it! So yes, Holly Hobbie, Precious Moments, all those Gloria & Pat leaflets, Leisure Arts, the magazines, oh my goodness they take me back. I've certainly stitched my share of blue-ribboned geese too!
@luhustitchesАй бұрын
That’s fantastic! I had a sort of quilted Holly Hobbie pillow that I loved. Now I’m wondering what happened to it 😂😂😂 That’s probably why I hunted down the cross stitch.

Hi! I just found your channel. It was fun to see those older designs from the 80’s and 90’s. I stitched a lot of models for Leisure Arts during that time. I still have the leaflets, magazines and books. During the earlier years the charts were hand colored with lots of backstitching. Thanks for sharing!

I married in 1971 and the made that felt 12 Days of Christmas bell pull. It was the first Christmas decoration I made. In 2003 my new daughter-in-law liked it so much she used my pattern and made her own. The hanging sparkles with sequins & beads. There is a little simple embroidery but more fancier stitches could be added.

Hi Cyndy! I loved seeing what your mom had in her stash before she passed. I inherited my grandma’s crafting stash when she passed, and while I’m super grateful for it all, it can definitely be overwhelming to have a lot more projects on my hands. How are you handling all the extra projects? My grandma mostly crocheted, but she also did some plastic canvas projects, and it’s hard to find the time to work on all the things. I also saw your Popper penguin project when I got my magazine, and I’m excited to stitch it!
@luhustitches3 ай бұрын
Hi Hannah! Sadly, as much as I might want to work on my Mom’s projects I really don’t. I also have a crochet project of hers from…ahem… 1976. It’s a poncho. I love the colors in it, (red, white and blue, go figure lol). I’ve even considered frogging it and making a blanket with the yarn but again, not likely to happen. It’s really lovely to inherit all these things but I think the reality is they were HER projects. I don’t have the same emotional investment (except maybe the crewel owl). I will continue to I corporate her things into my stash but it’s highly unlikely they’ll see much attention. Thank you so much for watching and commenting!
@LadybugStitches3 ай бұрын
@ I completely understand that! I suppose that’s something I should remind myself of so I don’t become completely overwhelmed. I have a knitting project my great grandma worked on before she passed away, and it has sat untouched for several decades now. I don’t know how to knit, but I do know how to cast on and off, so I was thinking of just casting it off to just get it out of my way. She used to make knitted pillows, and this project is the nearly complete front side of a pillow, so I could just finish it as is.

I just finished the Lizzie Kate Autumn ABCs last year and managed to get it out to display for fall this year…. It’s a cute one! Also just finished the Jesus Loves Me. I started it when it came out and hit a rough patch and put it down and then decided to pick it up again this summer…. So glad I did! You’re gonna have to finish that Numbers Bible verse with the birdhouses…. You’ve put so much work into it and it would be precious by your front door! I switched from country to cottage-y at some point as well. 😆 Loved seeing all the nostalgic 90s era stitching, Cyndy!
