It looks great, but I still can't get over these taillights that every 'restomod' project seems to use. There was also that Diablo restomod with similar taillights. I wish they kept the stock-looking lights, just with LED lamps and clear lenses.

I suspect that the Phaeton is quite reliable. Most reliability talk seems to be based on assumptions based on the category that this car is in, but there are very few real people who have actually had any serious problems.

If you're watching this because you're trying to decide, my answer is yes. There's no other electric car in this price range (got one top spec, <20k miles, <£12k as of mid 2024) that has the combination of performance, range and looks. It's not a tesla or any kind of sports car, but it accelerates very well up to about 65, better than most ICE hatchbacks that don't have a lot of extra letters or 'trophy' after their model name. I think it's beautiful. That's subjective, but in my eyes it looks better than the 208, better than most Audis (similar styling too) or BMWs. The interior looks less plain in person, and everyhting is laid out fine. The only problem I have is that apple maps won't display on the speedo binnacle like the built in nav will, and it won't display battery %, only its (wrong) estimate of miles remaining. Just remmeber each eighth of the battery bar is 12.5% and it's not too hard to work out. Its range is.. ok. It will probably get 160 reliably if you drive without considering efficiency. I've only ever HAD to charge en route once, while going about 180 miles. Consider most other small EVs have ranges that START at 160, so they may not even get 100. It charges quickly enough that it's never been a problem on any DC charger. Elite Nav features are lovely, especially the reversing camera that paints where you've been on a top down view, very handy for parking neatly in the lines, and the auto wipers and intellilux lights . You basically never have to touch them. The only problem I ever had with the lights is that you have to bump them onto manual in dark country lanes, for some reason. Oh and remember bump forward for manual and FORWARD AGAIN for auto (it's a toggle). Otherwise passing traffic will swerve past you in a cloud of burnt retina smoke and be quite upset. No lights need to be that birght. I'd also say don't buy one outright. Not because they're not great but because in four years it will be coming out of battery warranty and there will likely be solid state batteries and a whole load of newer tech around for cheap, so its value will probably drop off a cliff.

The number 1 is the Expansion Tank, number 2 is the roof top motor…….if you reach way back and then down….you can pull that motor into the trunk…where they should have in the 1st place.
