i prefer resilient, because having to make non concentration constitution saves is fairly common. So the slight offset i might suffer not having warcaster at certain level ranges is outweighed by the more con save application of resilient. imo

There's an upcoming game of Dragonlance Shadow of the Dragon Queen that meets on wednesdays and I'm thinking if they allow it of rolling a Dragonborn Gem Amethyst Divination Wizard, I would go Topaz but it can fly in order to stay safe and that breathe prefer advice will hit hard if gets in trouble and depending on what they allow possibly buying my divinaiton spells. and making it's background a spy.

I love the idea of a support character wizard+cleric, BUT he can delivery a LOT of damage if wants, pick 2 lvl in grave domain cleric (Yess delay your spell list, but not your slots) if you roll a 20 with portant then you online to do damage.. choose a creature and curse it with your action ( grave cleric ability) take quicked spell with metamagic adept to bonus action "inflict wounds" at max lvl.. if you cast inflict wounds a lvl 5slot, you deal 7d10, but is a nat 20 dice, so double it, but the target is cursed so double again..28d10 (no saves necrotic damage), this can be your only damage spell all the other can be support like bless with your cleric lvl's and all goodies with wizard list... is just to sometimes here and there show you a really powerfull and choose help another but dont mess with him Ps: your cleric dip give your medium armor and shield prof, so good AC

A must have feat for this class, imo, is Eldritch Adept-Misty Visions. Notably you will want it by 14 so you can, at-will, create a 15 foot illusion and then make it real.

Major Image. It's a 3rd level spell that can be upcast and if you use a 6th level spell slot then it's duration lasts until dispelled and it no longer requires concentration . Just think of the ways that this upcast spell interacts with both the features Malleable Illusion and Illusory Reality. Note: I think you can use Illusory Reality multiple times per spell but only once per round as it requires your bonus action to use, each time you use it then it can only affect one item. Nowhere does it limit the amount of uses based off of an ability or proficiency or anything like that.

I am fairly new to dnd and played an rogue arcane trickster. I was set to multiclass to a divination wizard but now I am REALLY considering doing so to a chronurgist. Do you have any ideas on how those two schools are different as multiclasses? (A video on other classes that synergy with different subclasses of wizards would be AWESOME btw). Enjoying your content!

I wish people would stop recommending Friends. Unless you are combining it with Disguise Self or some other way to hide your true identity, Friends will piss people off because you effed with their minds. It says they will know you influenced them and they will hate you. When you compare it to the wording of the charm person, Friends is a rough, vulgar enchantment. Your use of it will make you many enemies. Personally, I don't think advantage on Cha checks should be hatred inducing, but that's what the spell says it does. I interpret that to mean you magically put your grubby hands all over their brain, and when they realize it, it really ticks them off. Anyway, don't get Friends. It's a bad cantrip. Like true strike, the benefit isn't worth the cost.

Currently playing an Artificer (Armorer - Infiltrator), and this is a subclass that I've been debating over whether or not I want to dip into. If I opt to dip, it would be for no more than 2 levels, in order to pick up Chronal Shift (Portent-lite) and Temporal Awareness (Tactical Wit's twin cousin). Having played a Halfling Divination Wizard (with Lucky + Bountiful Luck) in a run through of DotMM [Mad Mage], seeing the DM squirm was amusing. And this subclass gives me very similar vibes. I do worry about a couple of things. In specific, the lack of available spells from the Chronurgy school, the speed/timing on Chronal Shift (in comparison to Portent), and the Momentary Stasis ability. I'll explain: 1. Even though the Wizard spell list is amazeballs (for the most part), the Chronurgy spells themselves are a bit lackluster overall. Many of those spells aren't necessarily ones you'd want to take per sé over other possible choices available, depending on what PC level the Chronurgist is. Of those Dunamancy spells available, however, I will give credit to the following 3 spells: Gift of Alacrity (stackable Init. bonuses are always good) Fortune's Favor (auto-advantage at the cost of 100 GP) Temporal Shunt (Great as a prelude to dropping Forcecage or Wall of Force, centered on the last seen location of the creature affected with this spell. The Wisdom save is kind of unfortunate though.) These three, if allowed, I would strongly consider taking without a second thought. The others on the other hand... IDK. A lot of them use saves that are either normally high (Con. for example), or are otherwise semi-common saves (Wis. or Str.). 2. As opposed to Portent, which uses no action economy, Chronal Shift does burn a reaction, and more importantly, the PC cannot control the number that's actually rolled by the target of this ability. That kind of worries me, as Chronal Shift doesn't fully operate on the same level of power that Portent does (mechanically speaking). To me, as both a PC and as a DM, I see the inherent value of having access to one's Reaction. And I'd rather not burn it if I don't have to, especially if I can't guarantee success. 3. Momentary Stasis. Given the fact that this targets an enemy's Con. save, this makes it more likely to be resisted at mid tier 2 play and above. Bestow Curse (3rd level Necromancy) could be helpful here in locking-in Momentary Stasis, but even then, that's a Concentration spell. A PC would have to wait until at least PC level 10, when Arcane Abeyance comes online (which, via a Familiar, can then deliver this touch spell), and even then, that's quite a bit of work-around to make sure the ability hits. I will say though: If there's more than 1 spellcaster in the party (which there should be), then the other spellcaster can drop something that can then force either a Str. or Dex. save, and have the affected target auto-fail the save. ============================ Apart from what I've said, I'm certainly intrigued by the subclass, and am curious to see what kind of idiocy can be pulled off. Especially with Convergent Future + Magic Jar, targeting either an Elemental, Construct, or Undead (if the DM allows for it), or something similar.

I have a high elf Necromancy wizard/Grave domain cleric who's coming to her first ASI. her con is 15 (+2) ,she has +1 studded leather armour and wields a mace, Longsword and longbow. Nevertheless she's a bit squishy so I'm looking at taking either Resilient or Warcaster. Which one should I take or both?

This was very useful, most useful video I've seen on the subject actually. Have been grappling with this question all day. I'm playing an Oath of Vengeance Paladin from Athas that naturally has the Aberrant Mind sorcerer class for a multiclass at level 5. So with my level 4 ASI increase for Paladin I was grappling between the two, You've helped me in leaning towards war caster. I still have a little under 3 weeks to change my mind again. But would you say it'd make sense to stack the two feats later, starting with war caster and later grabbing resilient in order to nearly never fail concentration?

Very well-formatted, well-spoken, and with good ideas! Further reading is also super welcome! I was surprised when I saw the view count was so low. It looks like you're putting your original script in for CC and then paraphrasing it in the video? The disconnect between what you and the subtitles say is very disorienting for viewers who use CC a lot. At your scale the extra time likely isn't worth it to retype everything you said, but automated is probably better than manually making it less accurate IMO.

I, as a dm, need a bit of help clarifying something. A player of mine says that when it says the wizard has to see the target to use portent that means see them in any way. I understand that as see through their own eyes but everyone else (All my players) seem to disagree. Does it say anywhere that the wizard himself/herself has to be the one seeing them and can't use, say, something they can look through the eyes of?
@RogerOver9000 Жыл бұрын
Whats "seeing"? Looking with the eyes? Or chemical reactions? Or its the electric converted signals? Or, its the brain interpreting those signals? Therefore, isnt seeing via someone else eyes, ... "seeing"?
