Oh lovely, SCA combat! :D It's been a while since I've been to practice but he totally needs to be projecting that shield further out to help defend against those on-side attacks. It's SCA combat! (SCA = Society for Creative Anachronism) It's a lot like HEMA but with a heavier emphasis on recreating traditional apparel and art and all sorts of things from the time, not just the combat. It's definitely a Renaissance Festival kind of vibe there!
