I have this fear of messing up and wasting really good papers but later I have been telling myself that it is okay it’s just a paper and you don’t know maybe you will create something good
@SpottedJournalАй бұрын
True! I was feeling like that with copy paper 🙈😂🙈 i realised I had a similar feeling with stickers I like too. But I started to whack stickers on the front and end the inner covers of my sketchbooks. It makes me smile every time I open my sketchbook.. which is better than hoarding them in a box 🙈🙈 I guess it was a confidence thing. Happy to report, I've started to use all my crappy materials first, which has helped me build more confidence and curiosity to use the nicer stuff.

Hi Jenny, Oh my God, I really needed to read that book! Thank you for encouraging me to start. I'm currently in the first week, and I have a question: Should I finish reading all of the first week's materials before I start on to week 1 ,and so on?
@SpottedJournalАй бұрын
It's so good right! 🤗 yes, I'd read chapter before starting the tasks. I usually start the week reading the chapter of the week in one sitting. Which means I have the rest of the week to focus on tasks including morning pages & artists dates. Love to hear how it goes 🤗🥳

I finally bought the book a few weeks ago. I only really know about the morning pages and artist dates so I'm really interested to go through it. Hoping to apply it to life in general not just my art. I already know my morning pages will not be first thing as my little one is always the first one awake and I can't do anything until he naps but I really hope I make it through all 12 weeks.
@SpottedJournalАй бұрын
Well, you are in for a ride! Take it easy and do what you can. Hope these videos feel like we are going through it together! Love to hear how you find it, too 🤗
@SimoneWhippArtistАй бұрын
I did the morning pages years ago when my son was at school. He is 26 now! 😂 I don't remember much about the book but did recently find some of my old pages I had written that were streams of depression and words without any real substance. I don't think I would have the patience to do it all again. Once something becomes popular or mainstream (as in this book) I tend to go off it. Rather than just dismiss it, maybe I should revisit the book (not the morning pages though!) and see if there is anything to catch my attention again. Nice to see you back Jenny! 🤗
@SpottedJournalАй бұрын
Aww thanks for visiting again Simone, lovely to read a message from you too 🤗 I 100% encourage to go through it again. I'll be going through it again for the 3rd time in Jan and definitely feel like there's room to discover more. I find it interesting to see some growth and thoughts change or remembering not having confidence in before. All part of the process. Let me know if you do go for it again, love to hear how you feel about it too 🤗

I told myself that I would start reading the book as soon as I bought it. I wanted the paper book, even though I could borrow an ebook from the library. But I will never get the same feeling with an ebook. I know there is no excuse for me not to start reading the book 😅
@SpottedJournalАй бұрын
@reemeiali my first time reading was on a kindle. Then I invested in the paper back. Either one got the job done. Do whatever helps you move forward if you really do want to. But if you don't either that's ok too!

@@SpottedJournalI just remember the idea that our heads are filled with all kind of thoughts: things to do, people we worry about, schedules to keep track of -and before we can be creative, we have to address those things directly. Then we have to set them aside. It’s basically learning to cultivate artistic inspiration, to become a professional and not an amateur, to take control of the process rather than waiting for lightning to strike you with inspiration or motivation. I think that idea translates nicely to most areas of life.

Have you done The Artist's Way? I'd love to hear how you got along! Here, I finally managed to scrape and piece together my second time round of going through 'The Artist's Way'. Happy to report I did complete the full 12 weeks, which I'll be sharing in the next couple of videos. I thought it'll help me figure out my 'visual voice' but I discovered there were other things lurking behind the scenes that had to be worked through first. Looking forward to sharing it all here soon. After 3 months of not posting a video due to technical issues, i must admit i'm a but rusty. 12 weeks of footage is a lot to go through and but I really missed reflecting with y'all and I can't seem to move on until I posted these projects.
