All the other games require too much set up and some of them have launchers that aren’t supported on official proton, and only work on very specific GE versions

Certain cutscenes refuse to play on normal proton (like the cutscene for the true ending), also I’ve NEVER had a performance difference between GE and normal proton, so if you are, I think something may be wrong on your end, and I’m not able to check your steam deck myself.

@@Kentun I see. Good to know. I hate it when cutscenes don't work smdh I've tested multiple protons in some of my games. GE Proton always consumes around 1 full watt more than experimental or proton 9

@@cqllel5186 too me wattage difference isn’t a performance difference that’s a completely separate issue, I have indeed noticed Proton GE sometimes runs 1-2 watts higher, but that doesn’t effect the frame rate in the slightest, the frame rates are almost always identical between versions. Running the steam deck at the intended 25 watt system usage won’t destroy the battery, so if you are trying to preserve the battery health then one you need to not leave it always plugged into a dock or something, and 2 only charge it when the battery is at 20% or less and never charge it higher than 95%, running the deck at 25watts will not effect battery health, that’s all determined by over charging the battery.

@@Kentun The higher the wattage consumption, the more demanding it is. The fewer watts you pull, the better optimized the game. That's how it goes. I use wattage as a means of benchmarks ・Sekiro at max settings takes 17W-18W to maintain a solid 60fps. That's pretty damb good compared to other AAAs. I use Sekiro as a point of reference. ・Metal Gear Solid 3 takes 22W just to even make it to 60fps. MGS3 is not just a bad port, but an insanely horribly optimized game. A 6th gen game that's more demanding than a modern AAA. Seriously, that game shouldn't take more than 8W smdh ・MGS5 ran at a solid 60 with very high settings and pulled 11W-12W average. A very well optimized open world game ・Halo 1 and 2 take 19W just to maintain 60fps on performance settings. Halo Reach, 3/ODST, and 4 took only 12W for me on highest settings for 60fps. My laptop could also handle all Halos at max settings, but it bouncing between 30 and 60fps in Halo 1 and 2 at lowest possible settings So if I can pull 8W in a game on Proton/Experimental, and GE Proton pulls 9W, it becomes clear that GE Proton is a bottleneck I figured the fewer the watts you pull, the longer your battery's health would last. I figured going over the 15W mark = over-exerting your battery. But if it's just a matter of 'over cherging', then I guess I have nothing to worry about but dust and the OLED display

@@cqllel5186that’s not how wattage works, certain game engines pull more wattage, just because Sekiro on a completely DIFFERENT engine runs the game at 60fps at 17-18 watts does not mean a game like Ys VIII or IX should run at 60fps at 17-18 watts, each game engine runs differently and requires certain hardware to pull a certain amount of wattage for that hardware to hit its target, it using less wattage doesn’t mean the game is optimized, MGSV was released in 2015 if a 2015 game was pulling 25 watts I’d be worried, shit came out on ps3 and 360 for goodness sake. Ys IX came out in 2021 July for PC and makes sense it draws a higher wattage that’s just how game engines go over time, for instance Sekiro and Elden Ring both run on the same engine but Elden Ring is a newer version of the engine and draws more power on steam deck and gets lower performance than Sekiro. You should actually look into how game development goes. Because I honestly think you are confusing a lot of things here.

it works out of the box, however like only 4 out of the 10 or so cutscenes work, you have to download ProtonUpQT in Desktop mode and use Proton GE 7-18 if you want a perfect seamless experience from start to finish.

Hrmmmm, that's strange indeed, did you make sure to go to the steam input settings and set controller layout to gamepad with joystick trackpad?

@@Kentun It's okay. I already refunded the game. Too many hustles just to play this. (Infinite loading screen and the built-in controller doesn't work. It is hard to work them on my SD) Code Vein works perfectly fine and after I get my refund, I dunno why it needs to be 24 hours to get them, I will buy the God Eater Trilogy.

@@MannahSonne I mean game still works flawlessly for me (Using Proton 6.3-8 which was the proton that was out when the game was marked as playable), with deck's built in controller, and no infinite loading screens, the problem is, and I don't think a lot of steam deck users really pay attention to, just cause valve marks it as playable and has a default version of proton it uses, doesn't mean it works, valve's official proton breaks all the time, because of constant updates they do. Now what I'm about to say scares a lot of steam deck users, but go into Desktop mode, and download ProtonUp QT from the discover store, and download latest proton GE Release and use that with most games, unless an issue pops up. Valve's official proton is meh half the time, and updates too much, with Proton GE Releases from ProtonUp QT each new update is a different version you have to download, so can't end up bricking a game cause of it, like valves. For future reference may wanna use this info, not just for Fatal Bullet (Since you refunded) but with many other games, Persona 5 Strikers for instance is now fully playable with Audio finally thanks to Proton GE, but valve lists it as unsupported, cause their proton doesn't support it yet.

@@MannahSonneALSO I repeat DO NOT BUY THE GOD EATER TRILOGY if you plan on playing them on Deck, Valve doesn't know what they are talking about, they are NOT playable, and they should not be marked as verified by Valve, the only one that is considered passable is God Eater 3 (Since it's on a different Engine). Both God Eater 2 Rage Burst and God Eater Resurrection have massive issues, changing gear or outfits for instance puts you into a 5-10 minute long loading sequence and can't leave the menu till it's done so you either force close or wait it out, and then loading screens themselves are anywhere from 2-10 minutes long, there is a reason I haven't made videos on them, they are borderline unplayable, and random stuttering issues. protondb is your best friend www.protondb.com/search?q=God%20Eater you can search up any game and see other users experiences with the game, and if there is a community version of proton or a specific version of valve's proton that will let the game run fine.

PS4/Xbox One is 30fps, PS5/Xbox Series is 60fps, all platforms seem to have the same dips in the same cutscenes at the same point as seen in this video, even ps5 and series x drop frames a bit at the same point in the beginning cutscene, guess the effects are just too much to handle

yes the 1000 floor DDD Dungeon is available on Vita it has all the same content.

Yes and no, it's just like transferring between mobile phones, if you transfer from your phone to steam deck, you lose all your gems if you did not spend them, and your account will be deleted off your phone.

To use the sword skills do you have to use touch screen? Or is each sword skill assigned to a button?

I'm not using the official proton, I'm using Proton GE.7-55 you should be able to find out how to install Proton-GE through youtube.

I more so play with a switch like experience now with the game and cap the fps to 30fps and it uses a lot less power, I try and use PS4 like visual settings with 30fps cap and it runs great tbh. I'm all for battery life now.

Everywhere else is fine, but the city area of this game is pretty demanding. I'm running game at max graphics 1080p Ryzen 5600x/6750XT, getting a almost constant 120fps, but occasional dips to 70fps when running around in the city. I can also run the game at 150% sampling rate, but fps drops to like 65fps

Tbh I took a while off cause I was being slave labored at my job, but I finally just moved across the US Back to where I’m from (Nevada) and don’t work at that job no more so I’m probably gonna get back too it. I have well over 10 games I wanna show case from my library but sheeeeeeet, I got catching up to do.

It indeed is, now fully playable (Single player only) with GE-Proton-7.50 or Proton Experimental Bleeding Edge Beta Branch. Live2D Works and everything, for best experience turn Vsync off in game, turn 30fps cap on in game, turn valve's frame rate limiter from 60 to off, and run the game in Window mode, with Ambient Occlusion off and Shadows and Draw Distance set to medium, and graphics quality to high, this gives the best optimal experience.

I can't remember either the back button or one of the touch pads, I don't have the game installed anymore so can't test right away

Refund it if it doesn't run
