I love Idiotbox. At this point I have nearly all his pedals and still can’t seem to resist his occasional sales. Anyway, as far as this review… Brilliantly conceived. Brilliantly executed. Yours is the thinking person’s gear channel. I’ve been spending a lot of time researching Motor City Pickups’ lineup and have a set of ceramic Solutions waiting to go into a guitar, but now I’m thinking I could get some Reactors for EVEN LESS?! Finally: What do you have in the neck spot?
@jdizzlies3 күн бұрын
Actually, I can just look at the poles, I guess. Looks like you’re switching between the Atomic and Reactor in the neck?
@jdizzlies3 күн бұрын
Ok, never mind. You address this at the end. Thank you for enduring my TED talk.
@boringgearreviews3 күн бұрын
This was an exciting read! Hahaha. Yeah, I totally agree that Idiotbox stuff is amazing! He has one of the best product lineups ever. I can’t say enough good things about these pickups and for sure recommend them. The demo was all bridge pickup positions but I am really loving the lower output Atomic in the neck and Meltdown in the bridge. The Reactor would be perfect in either spot too though. Thanks sooo much for the kind words. Really awesome to hear and I truly appreciate it!

How do you feel this compares to the Moth Electric P. Isabella?
@boringgearreviews2 күн бұрын
Hmmmmm. That’s a terribly difficult comparison. I’d say it comes down to the extra control on each. They both are based on the green muff, so they cover similar ground and both are excellent at it! It comes down to the clean blend and headroom control. Both are so cool but bring a different element to the pedal and your sound. Two of my favorite muff style pedals.

This thing makes your volume pot front and center. I found the volume changes the modulation around 10-8 and again around 2-3. The pick attack combined with the volume changes gives this thing a million different sounds. Spooky as hell and named accordingly!

Using this to put some texture and punch going into a neural DSP. It’s a tad hard to control some of it at higher gain for me. I think that’s due to me being tuned down to drop E, but absolutely worth every penny. Thanks for your review it definitely sold me on it.

@@AdamCox2010 I don’t think it was much of an issue but in certain settings, it’s definitely a noisy and gritty pedal. I just embrace the noise. Possibly take a look at the amp settings or what else it’s paired with. I’m running into a completely clean amp here.

@@boringgearreviews My only advice, to those who are using Solid State amplification, is that they use it on the Clean channel or, if playing through a one-channel amp, they keep the Gain level to a low setting. It's a wonderful device that adds layers of harmonics along with everything else.
