Is this Chris Rogers the same as the internationally known expert (with Ellis) on quadrilles? When they say Flirt, they know what they're talking about! Their classes are 100% scholarly and 200% fun -- just what country dance has always been. Mimmar3891, they were more restrained about leaping into bed but within the conventions of what dancing masters taught there's scope for all sorts of body language.

@TAN1tH1 LOL. Restraint was the name of the game in those days. There may have been some eye flirting, but this style of dance really wasn't designed to be sexy.

Dance! Get off the ground! Flirt! Put some sex into it! YOUNG people did these dances and they did them for FUN. Is that what these people are doing? Convince me! Chris Rogers, England.

It is not so loud as to disturb somebody on the other side of a quiet room; you will want an amplifier to play on the street. Low G is 207Hz so you don't need extended bass response; one local fiddler uses a 4 or 5" cube amplifier on her belt with an acoustic-electric for street performing.

I was thinking of getting one of these for busking/street preforming -- do you think it would be loud enough?

What a cool little instrument! I also REALLY enjoyed your playing! I'm just learning traditional Scottish fiddling... started this summer. Thanks so much for this wonderful video.

The tune is "Constant Billy". What this has to do with Duns Tew, which has no apparent recorded tradition, or Seaside Shuffle, is anyone's guess. It's certainly as far away from Bucknell as one could possibly get!!

He is responding to the whistling sound in the background.

Tone is somewhat nasal, not much power in the fundamentals of the lower strings -- expected due to the smaller volume of air. Quieter than a full-size for the same reasons; good for practicing at night, or in campsite or hotel without bothering neighbors. Very portable, can take it anywhere -- hiking, backpacking, on a train or bus, that is its advantage.

Too bad that after he said "just the instruments" that he didn't say "just the serpent." The serpent is a wonderful instrument.
