I'm glad you live in an area Judy that doesn't normally have to deal with tornados. I live in the southeast part of the country and they are very real for us and houses being built with basements are few and far between. The concrete box can be made to look like it's part of your house with adding a brick veneer or stucco or siding or whatever. These Oz rooms are not bought for looks. They seem to be the best at what they are designed to do and that is to protect life whether it be people or pets. With a septic tank, under ground electric cables, gas lines, cablevision cable all buried around my house an underground option is out the question for me personally. I just wish there was an Oz company in my area. I would order one this week.

If the door can get blocked I would not get in. I'll take my chances with the tornado. Starvation because you can't escape the shelter would be long and painful. Yeah, I always think about the worst case scenerio :)

@@cherylangel1714 part of the requirement for the FEMA reimbursement is that GPS coordinates at the exact site of the shelter are taken and then the shelter is put into a database. This will give first responders and FEMA a list of people to check on and know that, if a house is swept clean off the foundation, there may still be people in a shelter somewhere on the property who need help. Also, FEMA program requirements provide for things like water, food, chemical toilets etc. So if you do it right, no.

Geek cut hairstyles 🤣🤪!!!! Poor landscaping and grading if water was flooding into your storm shelter 🙄let's blame the company for installing something people bought that shouldn't have for their area. Glad I live in the Northern states we don't get much more than ef 0 ef1. Thank goodness we have basements . better than a concrete box in my front yard. They are the best though. One huge pour with a ton of rebar, at least two vibrators constantly working the in pour, it goes in to a huge lip underground as one pour, and weighs about 6 tons. Find a better one, you can't. What goes up in pieces, comes apart in pieces.

How does that sliding door not get ripped off by EF 5 winds?🤔
@1000CalorieSnackPack3 жыл бұрын
Because that door is probably half a ton, if not more. Also it's designed so that enough wind can't get behind the inner side to lift it away, even in EF5 tornado wind speeds.
