I had the great pleasure of interviewing and chatting with Mr. Gerritsen poolside in Universal City back in the mid-'80s, and he was such an engaging gentleman. Friendly and talkative, with interests in many things. He described his collection of Citroens, and his wife made a brief appearance at the table. Well, since I was in the mood for some Earring today, I poked around and found this beautiful production. I think I've never seen a more emotionally, musically, visually complete presentation on KZbin. Thank you for posting this, and thank you, Mr. Gerritsen, for being so welcoming to a young music journalist.

L Payne Hi mr. L.Payne. Rinus is indeed a great guy and a great musician. He isn't the greatest singer on earth, but that's not the issue here. It's about the song, music is emotion. It's good to know that Golden Earring still has fans in the USA! They are still touring in Holland, Belgium, Germany and in 2009 they played 2 gigs in London UK. In case you didn't know the girl singing with Rinus is his daughter Natousch. Kind regards from a longtime Earring-fan from the Netherlands (since 1969).

absurdio1955 Hi, Absurdio, and thanks for the comment. Rest assured, there are many loyal Earring fans here in the USA. I agree with your view of this performance, too. It's the song and the emotion of it. As for Rinus' vocal approach, I think he was right to speak it as much as to sing it. The work is excellent in every respect, and Natousch has done a beautiful job as an accompanist. Thanks again for the very kind note, Absurdio.

L Payne Well Mr. Payne (not related to Max?😉), As a long time Earring fan I'm glad to hear that today's solo project's from members of Golden Earring are still wanted in the USA. Of course hearing Rinus singing is not his strongest part but these guys want to do the things they like to do and I can only appreciate that.
