That is a huge weight loss from the last generation to the newer! This reminds me of the Mizuno's Wave Sky 8 that lost near 45g from the version 7. Great job Adidas. 👏

My problem with Hoka is their overly narrow toe box. I can’t just purchase the wide model as the rest of my foot is very narrow. This looks narrow to me as well so unfortunately I’ll have to pass. The Nimbus is much more accommodating based on my past experience with both shoes.

Very interested in the aero tempo. The price for what you get is a favorable to the consumer ratio. Hopefully they offer them in my US size 14. Skechers has been hit or miss with their size runs this past year on their performance running shoes. Also, the razor lineup starting with the 4 had a narrower forefoot than predecessors and the midsole was less lively than the 3. The conceit, I believe, was that the rocker became more apparent. For me, I preferred a livelier midsole that made me work a bit harder. It felt faster. The 4 was more of a cruiser that let the rocker do the work at the cost of the pop of the hyperburst

Thanks - I prefer doing it on the run anyway so it works out. Yes, I'm 10.5 - full size up from my true to size 9.5. I do often go 10 for "ultra" sizing, so depends how you want to look at it. La Sportiva does run small, objectively speaking. I list all my sizing in the comps sections of written reviews. This one's coming out in Spring, so it will go into the 2025 bucket for sure. Sometimes my "best of" picks get a bit mixed up around December. But I got these after I completed my picks.

Great vid and thanks ! How does this shoe do on a long trail (20+ mile) in terms of comfort to Brooks Caldera 7/8 and On Cloudsurfer Trail (most comfy I've ever worn) ?
@HumbleRunning5 күн бұрын
I'm testing Caldera 8 right now - the Brooks is heavier so that would be a big difference maker for me. Will be posting a short initial review video soon on those. Cloudsurfer Trail I've never ventured to take that long. They're comfy for sure, but to me a bit unstable. The lugs on those also can't handle real trails. Much better foothold and security with both the Merrell and the Brooks.

@HumbleRunning9 күн бұрын
Hard to say exactly - probably depends on how well they fit your foot and how secure you feel. The TPU in the midsole is definitely energetic - maybe unstable it it's too rocky, loose rocks, shale etc. Off Trail TR is a different category I'd say. If it's really that rough you may need some type of protection underfoot. The Pro Pro still leans "runnable" mountain terrain I'd say.

Looks like a great shoe, and nice review! Comment about the sizing, when a shoe is off that much (a full size) it makes it difficult for stores to order properly and sell the shoe. It also creates a lot of overhead with returns and exchanges. It's crazy to me that a company in 2024 can't figure out their sizing.
@HumbleRunning10 күн бұрын
I think La Sportiva has always been this way. I suspect it's a climbing thing - climbing shoes are of course extremely tight, so I think their more rugged mountain shoes have seemed to follow that pattern.

@@luizfelippe1495 Hard to say with so much dependent on context. As far as an ultra-racing combo, I'd go with one of the "Big 3" I talked about in the video for very long ultras, and the Prodigio Pro would be a good complement for a little less distance/duration. The LS is also way more usable for training. So much is dependent on the terrain you're in though. I could make a case for using the Prodigio Pro for pretty much everything too.

I've used the Bondi since the first year they came out. That's running 18 miles a week and after 52 weeks I would buy another pair. It worked well with me and helped me by avoiding plantar fasciitis . The big problem I had was the outer sole that would wear out after about 8 to 9 months and then I would need some shoe goo to build up the lateral rear outer sole for the last 3 months. When Hoka decided to keep the Bondi 8 around for 2 years , I left them and started to run and walk with the Asics Nimbus 25. That shoe is everything that the Bondi is and as of 9 months now there is no significant wear in the outer sole. This is a major statement since I was a Hoka guy way before they became popular. The Nimbus line works for me really well and I can get a pair in the 25s and the 26s for $99 and $120 respectively. You always get discounts on previous models especially when a company comes out with newer models every year. I'm thinking it took 2 years for Hoka to come out with the Bondi 9 because the 8 was still selling very well.

RTR Sam chiming in for Mike. I had one day in Prodigo Pro during UTMB week and have reviewed S/Lab Ultra Glide here:www.roadtrailrun.com/2024/09/salomon-slab-ultra-glide-review-max.html. It will depend on your pacing. If you are a "faster" runner in tech terrain then the Prodigo Pro is my initial thought. The Ultra Glide does fine but its strength is in either slower paces or smooth terrain where it is fantastic and surprisingly one of the very best "road" shoes I tested in 2024

I really liked your review because I was practically giving up on this shoe after reading some reviews and opinions about how soft it is. I prefer firmer shoes because they are clearly more responsive for me. But it was great that you made a comparison with the NB Elite v2 and v3, commenting that this model, despite being soft, responds well and has a different result. I have used many NB shoes in the past, but after the Rebel v2 and Elite V3 I simply gave up on the brand, because its foam is at a level too soft for me. If there is no total revolution in NB regarding the midsole foam of its performance shoes, I will never use a shoe from this brand again. But maybe I will give the Saucony Elite 2 a chance. I have the Elite 1 and for me it works very well.
