damn haha i'm largely the opposite body for the cross - slim yes, but long limbs.. and I used to love the rings and p-bars but the gains were soooooooooo slow and eventually i just injured my rotator cuff. Love seeing this though! Gymnastics is the best sport 100%

Hi Tyler. It’s unrelated to the video, but I was wondering what was going on through your head when you achieved the world record cross. I mean the cues and techniques you used, the part no one speaks about. What were you focusing on during that moment? Hands placement? Shoulders internally rotated? Lock elbows? Scapulas? Or do you have an external cue like push rings apart. I’ve stalled for years trying to figure it out. Maybe i overthink it, buts it’s made me become worse than I was 3 years ago
@tylerthepooАй бұрын
@@jonathanpurcell496 I’d be down for something like that. I can tell you upfront I don’t think about much while doing the cross but I can maybe help you with cues to improve.
@jonathanpurcell496Ай бұрын
@ I’ve tried too many cues during the years. At my peak I could Zanetti, slightly Carmona, pelican, 3 Maltese press on rings, 7 planche press on rings, iron cross (short straps),but +25lbs sometimes +50lbs if lucky. However, my progress always fluctuated and now I’m at rock bottom. Can hardly Maltese anymore. Maybe I over analyze technique and then stall trying to find the perfect technique. I feel my achievements were luck since I could never repeatedly Do them. That’s why I’m desperate for a cue cause sometimes I want to give up cali. However, I understand you don’t think of much. Perhaps I simply overthink. I’ve always thought there was a perfect cue for ideal form and strength throughout sessions.

Start swimming as well... As a former competitive swimmer I can tell you that we/I could easily do the Iron Cross. Swmming makes you stronger😊 If at the gym.. LOTS of fly/chest exercises.. 😊 Combine swimming with the gym (chest exercises) And you are there.. Takes at least 10 years or so to reach that level though 😂
@tylerthepoo5 ай бұрын
@@prmediagroupdk id love to see that, not that I don’t believe you but rings strength is pretty different I’d imagine. But swimming is no doubt a great chest exercise 💪🏼

@tyler ymauchi can't wait to try these. I am preping for iron cross with elastic bands pull downs (min 4000 pull downs with 3 kg force) and with helcometer (up to 83 percent perfect form 18 secs and once I managed to hold at 97 percent with very ugly form). will do these exercised to see how it goes :)

Hi Tyler. Very informative tuition. I am aged 63 and have been using rings for about the last 2 years. Due to a spinal injury I am unable to squat or deadlift, hence picking up rings. I am pleased with my progress to date. However, I will try your exercises to see if I can advance my strength. Kind regards.

When you swing, isn't it a pendulum and it depends on the length of the strap for a complete cycle? Stepping further back just means you travel further and faster but still takes the same time to complete 1 swing.

The formula for the period T of a pendulum is T = 2π Square root of√L/g, where L is the length of the pendulum and g is the acceleration due to gravity. 😀

Tyler, this isn’t related to the video but man! So close on stage 2! That blind grab looks really hard, nonetheless, the rest of your performance was flawless, especially the hammer drop! That save was incredible and I was rooting for you the whole time. Hope you can go all the way next season.

Thanks! Yea I was about 50/50 when training that move, but only had 2 weeks to practice it too prior to heading out. I knew I didn’t want to over lache but I still did 😞. But I’ve never gotten that far on stage 2 and am still happy with the results bc I my body and grip felt fine which means my training was spot on
