Fats Waller discovered a white stride pianist playing Waller tunes - the young Harry Gibson. Waller tipped him handsomely and then hired him to be his relief pianist during his own performances.

Would this be considered Ragtime music? Whatever it is I love it! I’m listening to this in 2024 from northwest Ohio. Now these guys are musicians! Such talent, enthusiasm and joy! Really gets my foot tapping!

The original 78 of this was longer and included a crazy guy asking for the group to play "Temptation." He did that after each verse, and Red would hush him up. At the very end they guy said "Well, then can I see your muscles?" and laughed. That was similar to the punch line of a similar incident of a guy watching a female opera singer. But at the end he wanted to see something else. The story was known throughout the music industry.

Great baritone ukulele playing... I used to watch this video over and over when i was a teenager ...Most people in modern times cant play uke with that much swing yet simplicity , Rythm and acompaniment - i feel its the way the uke is supposed to be played

Super great stuff.. Kinda hard to tell with the video quality but looks like Jimmy is doing both up and down sweeps around 1:38ish.. don’t think many country guitarists do sweeps.. really cool

Came here because of Ancestry research. I am great granddaughter to Fannie Drootin, (my father David was adopted out of the family), Buzzy was said to be my third granduncle. Both my children played drums. I was always very interested as well. I am blessed to be able to hear Buzzy's musical talent! I'm very impressed.
