If you’re doing it in your bathroom I would highly recommend making/using a still air box (SAB). Bathrooms tend to have more mold and mildew than any other room. Even though you sterilize the air with Lysol, any hand gestures or small amount of air flow could cause any floating microbes to potentially contaminate your spawn. Hope you’ve found success in this brilliant tek 🙏🏼

I just injected two 5 lb all in one grow bags with some jedi mind fuck. Have a syringe of penis envy and tidal wave but waiting for my grow grain jars to arrive. Does anyone have an idea what strains are the fastest from beginning to end? Just curious because not a lot of info out there that i could find. Thanks in advance.

Amazon has a $30 plastic foldable still air box designed for this, with the hand holes. It's not the best thing you can get but it's better than not having one. Just rub the inside with 70% alcohol. Also use individually packaged alcohol pads when cleaning your needle, and don't rub the actual needle if it's fresh from the package

".. that's a double sided coin." Don't all coins have 2 sides? I would much rather have a double edge sword. On the one side, hot enough to encourage growth, but not hot enough to cut yourself.

Well it stresses the point of how important it is to sanitize everything. You can wipe down 95% of your equipment and still get contamination because you missed a little spot and spores got in
@mattborski

I agree. It is important to do so. I was just busting balls because in the 50 seconds it took to watch him wipe those down, he could have said outloud, "[I can't stress enough] how important it is ..."

Great first video! would highly recommend mixing / inoculating in different angles / spots as it dramatically speeds up colonisation and it’s a myth that spores need to “find” each other

Bathrooms and kitchens are the worst place for contaminants, the amount of mould spores in these areas are much higher than if you were to do it in another room. Bathrooms particularly need ventilation as spores can reach tens of thousands per cubic meter especially if you see mould visible.
@mattborski

I totally agree. I mean, props to the kid for taping up the vents and being mindful of the air flow, but yeah, mold spores, bacteria, all sorts of crap floating around that warm humid environment.

Alot of people use these "extra" bathrooms that only have a toilet and a sink. Its entirely sterile if it's clean and unused.
@celsius418
@celsius418 3 ай бұрын
@@spiet7380 A bathroom that has a sink and a toilet, regardless of how “clean” you keep it will always have the potential to be a breading ground for mould, this is simply because mould thrives in areas where moisture is present. Like I said earlier, bathrooms and kitchens are the worst places for contaminants ,that isn’t to say that you can’t successfully grow mushrooms in these places however it will increase the chance of contamination.
@SirDydimus86
@SirDydimus86 Ай бұрын
I agree on the increased risk of contamination in those two rooms. However, in the kitchen, most of us have an oven and using one's oven creates a continuous column of hot sterile air to work within. One could also work next to a bunsen burner, if they so chose. Best to make yourself a BBFFU or utilize the SAB

🦠I took microbiology in college. The first day in lab, our assignment was to clean the table surface with a lot of the strongest professional grade antimicrobial cleaner on the market, which we all did. Then we immediately took a Q-tip and just took a quick swab of the surface. We replaced the sample on agar and put it in the incubator. A week later, you could clearly see at least five different kinds of microbes growing on that auger! They just came down from the air or survived our sterilization process, who knows. But it made a big impression on me. These things probably weren’t harmful to humans, but they could be harmful to mushrooms. And this lovely growing condition that we create for our mushrooms is perfect for a lot of other things to grow in. So to the people who think it’s a joke because they eat their mushrooms right off of cow patties, I get how they’re thinking, but I also know that there are constantly many things growing on the surface of everything, including ourselves all the time immediately after using antimicrobials. 🧫

It’s easy to call people lame while hiding behind anonymity. I found this helpful because the first time I used uncle Ben’s rise about a year ago it worked great. And I thought I remembered how to do it, but it just wasn’t growing as fast as I thought it should so I found a video and this was it. I forgot the air exchange ports! I hope it’s not too late. Probably not knowing help fast things grow when you let them.
