How much gold fabric did you use/need?
@Angealy02_
@Angealy02_ 17 күн бұрын
I used about 60cm (~0.66 yards) fabric length for a fabric width of 140 cm (~1.53 yards) for the cape, I think. For the whole cosplay (cape, skirt and top) I originally ordered about 150 cm (~1.64 yards) in length. Keep in mind these values only work if the measurements are the same as in the video. If the cape is longer than in the video because the person wearing it is taller, then the gold amount changes quite a lot due to the outer radius changing. So if you have different measurements the fabric amount needs to be recalculated.

Thank you for your comment, I love seeing viewers from different places of the world! :) In the video I used "Stretch Satin" fabric. But it doesn't have to be stretchy so simple "Satin" should also do the work. It's cheap and affordable for beginners, also the matte shine of the fabric actually fits the costume. (Although it might be too shiny depending on your preferences, so it's not a must to use it if you find something else you like more.)

This tutorial is so helpful!!! May I ask for the measurements of your gold stripes? I have exactly the same measurements for the skirt, so this would help a lot 🙂
@Angealy02_
@Angealy02_ 2 ай бұрын
Glad it's helpful :) Vertical length including fold: For the thin stripe 5cm (~2'') + 2*seam allowance in total. For the broad stripe it's 10cm (~4'') + 2*seam allowance in total. Horizontal length for each stripe about 200cm, so in total 400cm (~13ft?). Of course not cut in one long stripe, but cut on the width of fabric roll and the sewn together until I had the desired length.

It is truly remarkable how you created this design! If possible, I would have ordered your design, but I will attempt to follow your tutorial guide. I deeply admire and cherish the anime Spy X Family, and I can relate to Yor Forger's personality in her true form. I particularly loved the red sweater. I am considering cosplaying as her this year or next. I aspire to learn how to design and create my own clothing, and I believe this is an excellent starting point. Thank you very much. ☺️🙏🦋✨ ps. Love the flower detail! That was beautiful!

How did you fold the outer side pants pocket?
@Angealy02_
@Angealy02_ 3 ай бұрын
The outer side pants pockets are folded like the chest pockets (folds toward the middle). But in the video part for the chest pockets I use the side, where "the slit is in the middle". For the side pants pockets it's exactly the same fold, but instead of the side with one slit, turn it around on the backside and it has "two slits" on the side (like in a box pleat). In other words "same as chest pocket fold, but use the back side after finishing folding". This is an old video and in retrospect bad in quality 🙈 Still hoping it helps you a little bit.

PLEASE HELP so, what have i done wrong when my chest line is shorter than shoulder line?
@Angealy02_
@Angealy02_ 3 ай бұрын
Remote diagnosis without details or pictures is really hard and it's almost impossible for me to give you pointers, so take everything with a grain of salt. From the top of my head I can think of a few possibilities, but I don't know if anything of these apply to your problem: The horizontal shoulder line with the value (shoulder/2) (03:59) should be marked from the center vertical line not from the outer neckline curve. It can get confusing really fast if not used to pattern drafting. Another thing is the chest area needs to be done at the widest area, for women it would be around the largest part of the breasts as seen in the video and for men probably the largest part of the pectoral muscle. Yet another thing is to stick to one measurement system, either metric or imperial, just stick to one and don't mix the values.

What's AI SAID: (When I ask AI for Radius) Great question! If the circumference is 37cm, we can use the formula: Circumference = 2πr Where r is the radius. To solve for r, we can divide both sides by 2π: r = Circumference / (2π) Plugging in the value, we get: r = 37cm / (2 × 3.14) = 37cm / 6.28 = 5.9cm So, the radius is approximately 5.9cm.
@Angealy02_
@Angealy02_ 3 ай бұрын
Be careful, this is the formula for a full circle not a 3/4 circle like in the video! If you want to use a full circle for the cape you can go for it of course, I showed in the video in the mock-up how the full circle cape would look like. Long explanation: For a 3/4 circle the formula is still different, because you want the neckline still go fully around your neck. If you'd use a full circle and then remove a quarter from that full circle then the neck length would be affected (a quarter would be missing). Then it wouldn't fit completely around the neck anymore. That's why in the video for a 3/4 circle the formula for neck radius r is: (circumference * 4/3)/(2*Pi). This makes the radius bigger and thus the neck circumference of the cut out 3/4 circle longer, this way it still fits completely around the neck while giving the typical 3/4 circle/skirt roundness/fullness. Whenever you use AI for things like that, I recommend checking the results twice, because most of the time the results given are not correct. In this case for a full circle the radius for the given circumference was correct, but if you ask for a quarter circle radius with given circumference it still gives the same formula and that would be wrong. This is a long comment, but it's crucial that beginner (hobby) sewer understand that AI is not the solution to everything, we still have to apply math the correct way and understand what/why things are done this way to be able to sew garments properly. Thank you for reading

Thank you for your question! This is one of my early videos where I didn't made the pattern myself, so I used a commercial sewing pattern: It's from Butterick and the number is B6298. Although I did adapt the collar in the pattern so it looks like the one from Winry. If you don't find the pattern there might be other brands that also sell a classic jumpsuit pattern.

Without seam allowance I decided on a single width of about 2.5cm (~1''). So for the thin stripe it's 5cm (~2'') + 2*seam allowance in total. For the broad stripe it's 10cm (~4'') + 2*seam allowance in total. The length depends on your cape's bottom. I used about 4m (~13.2ft), but you really need to measure it on your own cape just to be safe, it can vary.

hi how much fabric did you used?
@Angealy02_
@Angealy02_ 4 ай бұрын
I can only give you the amount I used, but your amount depends on your measurements and the fabric roll width, so it might vary for you. For the outer skirt (not lining) and a fabric roll of 155cm (~1.7yards) width I used about 130cm (~1.6yards) in length. It's usually easier to make the pattern first before buying the fabric you want. This way you can lay out your pattern e.g. on the floor and calculate the amount of fabric you need.

Do you mean like "make the crotch shorter"? It really depends on the situation and I can't give you a general answer. If you have e.g. only too much fabric and it's only below the crotch without adjusting the waist height, then maybe. (Like adjusting baggy pants to fit, there are other videos on this topic) But changing e.g. high waist to low waist would probably need extra fabric because the waist is usually a little smaller than the hips and the waist would need widening. There are more possible situations and I would recommend searching for your specific topic first and see how the others do it.

Sorry for the late reply, I didn't see the comment! Do you want to know if it's possible to remove the needle entireley or to move the needle in general for sewing purposes? For removing: above the needle and a little to the side is a round lever thing (?), just use this to screw and unscrew the needle attachment. For moving in general: You have the pedal of course and the big round lever on the right side of the sewing machine.

Do you mean the vertical spool pin on top of the machine? If you have a new Singer Tradition 2259 that part is covered with a small plastic thingy (?). I poked it with something pointy and the cover came off. For the pin itself, I googled for "second spool pin" + my Singer version and I think you will find a store which sells it. I can only give estimates of what I bought: total for poly fabrics for the hat ~18€, the hard interfacing alone was ~18€, the other two around ~7€ and the smallest possible amount of chiffon fabric and faux leathers was ~5€ each. It all also depends on what kind of fabric you prefer, the amount etc. but you probably already know that. For the time I really don't know, I think I spend around ~50h? Plus 8h of planning alone. Some amount of time was also spend on trial and error as I have never made a giant hat before. So it could be that others might not take as long as me.
