Very frustrating! Thanks Badida…going with your conversion!
@brewerspaints2 ай бұрын
Hi @vicciwall7778 - the conversions for the concentrate can be found in the description of this video - for clarity this is "One pouch of wallpaper should be mixed with water as detailed in the rations shown in the instructions on the pouch - for lightweight wallpapers, one pouch should be diluted with 1.85 gallons of water and this will be sufficient for 8 rolls. For heavy vinyls and paste the wall wallpapers one pouch should be diluted with 1.56 gallons of water and will be sufficient for 6-7 rolls" If you need any further help or advice we have a dedicated US customer service team who you can contact by emailing [email protected] or by calling them at 1-855-972-9273 and they will be able to answer any further questions as well as provide you with the product data sheet which has all information on it. Thanks.

The packaging for the Albany concentrate should be clearer! This is the only place I can find the answer for the US conversion. So a pouch makes 1.8 gallons for light wallpaper and a pouch makes one and a half gallons for heavier wallpaper and will cover six rolls of wallpaper which still is somewhat confusing because wallpaper width can vary. I already bought the Albany adhesive online, through wallpaperdirect site. I recommend just going to Home Depot and buying the Roman wallpaper adhesive product which is made in Illinois. Thanks.

What about painting over existing gloss? Run down and then gloss if similar colour? Undercoat and gloss if not?

Remove the “furniture’? In America, that means chairs, tables couches… What does it mean where you are?
@brewerspaints3 ай бұрын
Hi @WendyDenney-g7u - furniture does also mean what you described above, but in this instance it also is used to describe whatever you may "dress" the front door with, just like you use chairs, tables, etc to dress a room. Think door knockers, doorbells, handles - anything that isn't a part of the original substrate that can be taken off to enable to door to be painted more easily!

I got blasted at work by my boss for using a brush. Apparently that’s a big no, no and you’re supposed to use a roller even in all the nooks and recesses…
@brewerspaints3 ай бұрын
Hi @doudeau1988 - we would recommend brushes for use because as long as you are using the right brush for the job, brush strokes should be minimised when painted correctly and even more so if using an oil based paint. We wouldn't typically recommend using a roller for the entirety of painting a door as, especially in doors with detailed areas, unless you are overloading the roller with paint and flooding these areas (which will result in a bad finish and probably cause runs and drips) a roller would not be able to reach the same nooks and recesses as a brush would.

How many coats of white did you apply please. The finished look is whiter than when you applied.
@brewerspaints4 ай бұрын
Hi Sarah - thanks for your question! In this example one coat of the white Polyx-Oil was put on and then one coat of the Natural Matt Top Oil. The change in whiteness is due to curing times of the product - this develops over 24 hours and so the change is what can be expected at full cure. Hope this helps!

Can anyone explain the bit about oil vs water based primer vs finishing paint?
@brewerspaints8 ай бұрын
Hi, thanks for your comment. The reason we recommend using oil primer on oil finish and water based primer on water based finish is because water and oil don't mix - they will repel each other due to the oil's inability to break hydrogen bonds in the water molecules. Therefore, they don't stick together and the paint coating may fail
@swampy12348 ай бұрын
@@brewerspaints thanks for the reply. In that case, my next question is - for an ash wooden front door, would you recommend going for oil or water-based? Thanks a lot!
@brewerspaints8 ай бұрын
@@swampy1234 for this type of substrate either type of product can be used - it mostly comes down to personal preference. Oil and Water based will also both have their own benefits - if you want to discuss your particular project in more detail you can always contact our customer service team on 01323576555 and someone will be able to talk this through with you for the best advice :-)

what if you are wallpapering and not painting?
@brewerspaints11 ай бұрын
Hi @jayjohal6892 - thanks for your comment! We would recommend sizing the wall prior to wallpapering (this is applying wallpaper paste that has been watered down around 20%), or you can apply Zinsser Gardz (www.brewers.co.uk/product/BN6022F), again prior to wallpapering. This will help the adhesion when you go on to line the wall. Hope this helps :-)

It’s to give the plaster a key ready for the paint to penetrate and bond properly rather then sit on top. 👍
@brewerspaints2 жыл бұрын
Spot on Tom! Providing a key to the surface by sanding it makes it much easier for the paint to adhere to the surface to avoid it flaking or peeling.
@NiktheEnglishGreekCypriot2 жыл бұрын
Why would you use 120 grit sandpaper on new plaster. Pointless in the plasterer even doing a good job if you’re gonna do that. As long as the mist coat is correct it’ll still adhere fine to a polished surface, can just be a bit harder to roll
@brewerspaints2 жыл бұрын
Hi Nik, Thanks for your question. You would want to sand new plaster as doing this provides a key to the surface, which means it makes it much easier for the paint to adhere to the surface to avoid it flaking or peeling. Hope that answers your query!

It wasn’t a question, I’m a professional plasterer and decorator, there is no need to sand new plaster unless it has defects that need sanding. A mist coat like screwfixes bare plaster paint soaks in to all plaster work fine
