I liked the scene where the fly floats along the bottom of the river. Well done.

Very enjoyable. Looks like an upstream wind was a bit bothersome. What is your nymphing line and leader setup?
@NickThomasFlyTying7 ай бұрын
Glad you enjoyed it. I was using a 3wt floating line with a four foot furled leader and around eight feet of tippet.

Awesome Tie.How do you like the uni mono thread?Also tying larger patterns.Thank You
@NickThomasFlyTying7 ай бұрын
Thanks, I mostly use the UNI-mono for tying streamers, minnows and saltwater patterns, but it’s good for small flies when you don’t want it to be seen.

What thickness is the tinsel? Is it just from a spool or a piece of flashabou etc?
@NickThomasFlyTying11 ай бұрын
Its UTC opal mirage, the large size. But ant flashy tinsel will be fine. Cheers, Nick

Beautiful video with a sad ending, I riverfly monitor with a conservation organisation in West Berkshire and I see the results of sewage pollution and extraction. We don't have a river of good ecological status in this country. I despair at the lack of action by the government. Sorry about my rant. I did enjoy your video, you capture why I love flyfishing thank you

Great video Nick ! I too have lived within a mile of the river, all my life . Fished it since I was 10 years old . Only caught rudd , roach and eels then . Recognised every spot you fished . Will look out for you.

Love this dressing real life like I’m going to be getting your book along with some organza can you suggest what sizes I should get to be able to tie your patterns I’d appreciate it
@NickThomasFlyTying Жыл бұрын
Thanks. Pretty much all of my organza is 3mm or 6mm. Wider 9mm or 12mm can be useful for streamers or other patterns where you want a longer fibre. White or cream organza can be coloured with a permanent marker pen to make olive or other shades.
@tylerpaquette9376 Жыл бұрын
Super cool bug may I ask who makes that floss I love how wide and flat it gets nice dressing
You sir have a brilliant mind when it comes to using materials may I ask where you get your organza my local shop has it but lacks the boarder edges
@NickThomasFlyTying Жыл бұрын
Hi Tyler, Thanks. I get my organza from Amazon, there are many different suppliers on there, but its all the same, some just have more varieties than others. www.amazon.co.uk/SR-Woven-Organza-Quality-Ribbon/dp/B074C2CN3R/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?crid=1FKU16PDV2I5Y&keywords=3mm%2Borganza%2Bribbon&qid=1673689796&sprefix=3mm%2Borganza%2Bribbon%2Caps%2C68&sr=8-2-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&th=1&psc=1

I recently came across your amazing patterns one in particular is your floating caddis pupa made with hollow braid backing and nymph skin I kind of get the idea of making the body I was wondering if you had a video of that pattern if not would you consider showing how it’s done the picture of it floating in that jar is just so dam cool I’d love to tie some up
@NickThomasFlyTying Жыл бұрын
I haven't done a video for that pattern, but if you are interested the method for tying extended bodies with nymph skin is covered in my book Fly Couture (nickthomasflytying.myportfolio.com/fly-couture)
@chosses1 Жыл бұрын
What kind of organza are you using?
@NickThomasFlyTying Жыл бұрын
It's just 3mm ribbon that you can buy in crafts shops or online. It comes under many different brand names, but I guess it all comes from a factory in China.
