Let's see,he lives far north east by accent, major salt area,as long as he has had it no mention of fluid change when bought, along with no Lucas treatment...your expectations are way to high for that old of a vehicle...

I have 98 dodge ram 5.9 magnum I replace all sensors and pick up coil. The only sensor I have not replaced was the crankshaft position sensor when it’s really cold outside and I put the truck in reverse it shut off right away, but turns back on but no check engine light comes on the dash did anybody else have the same kind of problem?

Still in 2023, its the best looking pickup ever made. I have a 2001 5.9 Diesel 2500 in the same colour as yours, and same extended cab, just black leather interior. Plus I have a 2001 RamCharger from Mexico, its basically a 1500 2wd with the 318ci 5.2L, and a caravan tailgate.

Correct me if I'm wrong I heard it was the metal the ram trucks are made of why they rust Japanese metal i heard it wasn't coated in something properly

Sir, this is a 20 year old truck and during this time Chrysler was in a bit of a pinch because they were only selling 70,000 trucks and had to come up with money to pump out 250,000+ a year. This is why materials are shit all of these things you said is a common second GEN problem but you should expect those problems from most vehicles, after 20 years of wear and tear.

I got a 95 Dodge Ram 1500 with 180,000 miles on it now that I bought new in Oct. of 94. Still runs great, no rust, (I live in California). no complaints except gas mileage could be better like 16 mph around town, and never go out of town lately for about the last 10 years or so. Basically no real complaints.

I have replaced the all 3 sensors on throttle body, spark plugs, wired, distributor cam and crank sensors, ignition coil, pcm, both 02 sensors, temp sensor, pluma gasket, hollowed out catalytic converter, checked TDC. I don't know what else to do any help.

All factory transmissions lack useful filtration and cooling. Factory “filter” is no better than a strainer. Install a high efficiency spin on aux filter with a magnet and a bar&plate cooler. Should last forever.

I'm still driving my 01 quad cab that I bought new. It's part of the family. I've hauled bricks n pavers, towed an RV, and I've never needed help getting out of mud, rocks or sand. Your reviews share the thoughts of all owners of the 2nd gen I'm sure. Thanks for the video.

I have a 95 dodge 5.9 magnum and the only issues have been with the suspension which needs lots of work in the front. And some other vibrations under the floor which I think is the driveshaft, other than that it’s been a good vehicle

Transmission tip for everyone: Transmission flush = more damage than good. Instead do like I did on my XJ, remove the transmission oil return line after the oil radiator, turn the engine on and simply let the transmission naturally pump the fluid out, you have to overfill to begin with and refill during the "treatment" have a friend help you, so you make sure not to pump it empty during the process. Watch the fluid colour coming out, when it changes to new colour, reinstall the line, refill to proper level. Now you have successfully removed 99% of old contaminated shitty oil in your transmission, without causing damage or stress. Most automatic transmission quit early, even when serviced according to service intervals, because a normal transmission oil change only change 1/3 or perhaps even 1/4 of your transmissions total oil. Of course the Jeep Cherokee XJ has an almost bullet proof automatic, It's a Japanese Aisin-Warner four-speed automatic - they are truly incredible. It takes Dexron btw, not ATF.

My first thought is, you should put a bottle of lucas oil transmission fluid conditioner in that truck. Lucas oil also makes transmission fluid additive and i highly recommend that. Look up LMC, they make a full product line of parts for that truck, and they will send you a free catalog.

The rust is definitely from your salted roads. That does not happen in Alabama unless someone brings a vehicle here from a snowy area.

try making sure that the button on the gear shift SEC selector arm is pressed in and the overdrive light is not on on your dash and as far as it goes is the cancer on the side of the truck the passenger and driver door that's because you live in Long Island New York and they use a lot of salt on the roads I have a 2001 Dodge ram 1500 four wheel drive Gen 2 and it doesn't have a hole in it anywhere except for I drilled it

The crank position sensor is a thing that often happens on all trucks. It’s not dodges poor design on the doors, the salt on the road causes a lot of the rust, you wouldn’t belive how bad it can get, even on new trucks

2000 Dodge 1500 4X4 this truck is a pile of shit. my list from the start. 1. interior is absolute junk, the dash is the worst. 2 paint job is crap. 3. plenum seal in intake stupid crappy idea. 4trnsmission is crappy. give me an old 721. 5. 4X4 engagement WTF and who thought this shit up. 6.The front end death wobble. My God has anyone been lucky to experience this scary as hell while driving at 70 mph? 7 Door pins. 8 cam sensor. and the constant code fetish the computer haunts you with. Mine is new by attrition I've had to at one time or another replaced just about every part on my truck over the 20 years. The paint job still sucks, I haven't repaired that...yet. Should have kept my 73 chevy, the guy sold it to still drives it. I drive my dodge with my head in shame. The only redeeming aspect is The 5.9 magnum will pull the truck apart. Fast for a full-size pickup. almost forgot. The friggen heater box blend door. ^&*#!
