How did u connect the green bullet plugs to the battery? Because isn't the battery a xt60?
@pondacres5 күн бұрын
Sweet, I'm eyeing this exact kit for a Specialized mtb conversation. Love how you packaged it all in the rear rack bag! Can you disconnect it easy and take it with you? I would do same as you, no pedal assist, just to throttle assist. How's yours been holding up?

When I changed the throttle, I opened up the compartment and changed at the base. There's no guarantee of waterproofing unless you do it the right way.

Not a well balanced set up. You've got all the weight of the kit on the rear axle and it's top heavy because of your battery placement. I'd be reluctant to get on that thing, let alone put it through its paces.

where is a on off switch on the battery my battery is live , went to plug it in and got a direct short to ground ,w t f , checked the on off button the twist grip ?, so there is no real on or off switch ,just the red push button , ? the instruction are less than vague, as i would have thought even with the red button on there would be no current drain untill you open the twist grip , i assume this is proportional

The biggest problem with installing these ebike kits are the battery connectors, and every video I have watched on youtube have just skipped over this part. I wonder why?
@fernandomiranda81257 ай бұрын
I did the exact same thing on my 1000w Bafang motor. Although it works fine (it prevents the motor from moving up and down), however I had a bigger problem. I am not sure if it's because the motor was too powerful and gets really hot, and also because of the pressure that motor makes against when the motor accelerates, but a piece of aluminum approx. 6cm² size fell off from where the down tube joins to the bottom bracket shell. It wasn't a cheap bike, it was a Trek FX 3. I got shocked. Next time I won't make the motor touching all the way up, but I will leave some clearance in between so the motor won't touch the down tube.
@expedition-electric35497 ай бұрын
Interesting point about the clearance. I wonder if anyone else has had a similar experience with a 1000w Bafang motor creating so much pressure? Maybe there's a way to reinforce the down tube area before installing the motor to prevent future issues.
@tribeofdan36536 ай бұрын
Exactly the same thing happened to mine, same size hole in the down tube which I noticed on the weekend. Hence I’m here. I think I’ll try the clamp idea. The reason the hole is there, I believe anyway is due to the movement of the motor smacking into the down tube when loose. I put my bike in a stand, throttled it and watched the power of the motor slamming into the down tube to come to that conclusion. Funny enough I have a Trek as well it’s a 69er full suspension, battery on the top tube because it won’t fit in the triangle. I’ve done 3500 miles on this set up and it’s lasted about 3.5 years. I’ve had one controller burn out in the warranty period, which I got replaced. I got the motor greased and serviced the same time. Since then no issues and no servicing. I did put a larger cassette on after the controller burn out, I put a 42 tooth largest cog on the back and a 40 tooth on the crankset. If I’m using level 5 on the motor I keep it in 42-38 tooth max in the rear cassette.

There are no need to install torque arms, providing you Dremel/drill out a cavity for the hook washers to bed into.

I bought my SwagCycle several years ago. I bought 3. We have hardly been able to enjoy them because the back tire keeps going flat. We had the tubes replaced multiple times. We are all under the weight that is suggested. Most places don't want to repair it because they say it's not worth the time. We finally found a solid tire to fit the back tire. But once again we can't find anyone who will take on the task. When I contacted Swagtron they kept telling us to ship them to Canada, to replace a tire tube. I truly need help in finding someone to fix my bikes. Is there anyone out there that can give me some suggestions? Who will work on these besides shipping them to Canada, I'm in Pensacola Florida?????????? I'm hoping your KZbin may get me some feedback. Thank you.

This is wrong. All of the work is being done by the hose clamp. The torque is going backward. As for the arm not fitting on in the right direction, you needed to flip it around to get it lined up. You only rotated the piece and selected from one of two direction. The item is not symmetrical - you need to flip it around and try those directions.
@expedition-electric35497 ай бұрын
You're right, a hose clamp shouldn't be the primary source of torque. It's designed for sealing, not holding things together under force. Is there a way to use a proper bolt or bracket for a more secure fit?
