La música 🎶 de JS Bach no puede ser más perfecta, grandiosa y sublime. Y con este grupo acertadamente dirigido y un barítono de la excelencia de Gerharer se exalta más aún esta cantata. BRAVISSIMI!

It’s so moving to watch and hear a group of young musicians who have the maturity and intuition to understand what Mahler was saying. Too often, much more seasoned musicians seem miss the point.

As far as I know, this is how Bach should be played in terms of "authenticity": by a small ensemble. But I don't like this performance, it has a feeling of extreme timidity. But maybe I am just spoilt by Bach being played by full modern orchestras.

sorry of course they played very well but it is spoiled when video directors, or whoever it is that started this trend, get orchestra members to do cute smiles on cue at each other during the performance. it really insults the music

I hate when the piccolo doubles the flutes...you can't hear the flutes, which are much more pleasant than a piccolo.

He lets the strings play with vibrato for a piece written in the 1870s and no vibrato when he conducts Mahler's 4th some 30 something yrs later. Am I missing something?

Gerhaher once again shows that he is the most outstanding baritone of our time. He surpasses his teacher Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, but does not use his mannerism. Gerhaher has both sweetness and pith, modulates the tones expressively. He also shows that he has worked through the text intellectually - simply perfect! Thanks!

Gerharer fabulous and outstanding as always, but the instrumental part - something terribly stupid, incredibly boring, fragmented and innatural and completely against the music (someone absolutely forgot to take the actual acoustic of the hall into consideration - mechanical idiocy).

When you're as ancient as me, you marvel at how you go through your understanding and appreciation over the years. I started with Mahler 1 and 4 over 50 years ago and more recently got into 2 & 3. For the past few months I've been playing the 9th again and again but find dear old Claudio a bit too 'dramatised' if you know what I mean. To see and hear kids like this, just inspires me beyond any more words. Thanks.

The orchestra should be more forceful; the music represents paganism, almost deprivations, they are worshipping the god Dagon.
