Hi Ive just subbed because im interested in the construction of faux rocks; which one of your vids is best to see your methods, tips etc? thanks
@BozolipsКүн бұрын
Dave, why do the peg board? Why not use lath on the bottom side to catch the shotcrete? I don't know anything, just trying to understand. Do you plaster coat after or just paint the shotcrete
@DaveHendersonFakeRockVideosКүн бұрын
Thanks for the question. I use pegboard with dobies cuz to insure I get good encasement of the rebar inside the concrete. You could use lath with spacers to achieve a similar result though lath can bend and distort from the concrete weight and is a pain to use and cut. And yup we do a final texture coat of mortar always for final surfacing. Then painting/staining... Have more how to stuff with free downloads if ya like at davehenderson.podia.com Hope you have an awesome day! :)

@robertday3601 Thanks for the kind words. Appreciate it. :) Ya, the waterproofing product is made to have more material go over it. Good to have a minimum of an inch or more thickness and make sure it slow cures or the bond will be weak. I use a hose to mist stuff on hot days... This may be strange but I used to be a cake artist and I have A TON of edible airbrush food coloring. Think I could airbrush that onto my creations to stain the concrete/cement/mortar? Anyone tried using food coloring to paint or stain cured concrete ?
@DaveHendersonFakeRockVideosАй бұрын
Howdy, thanks for checking in. Ya, ya never know what might work and what might not. So you can simply test your colorants in little test panels on any firm board or the side of a cinder block or stepping stone. Keep track of your amounts that you add to your cementitious materials to see how it affect things and you'll quickly find out what is colorfast or durable once the test pieces are dry. Rinse them with a hose or better yet a powerwasher. If the colors stay after that then you'll know they work! For more faux rock how-tos, including free downloads you can go to davehenderson.podia.com if ya like. Anyway, best of luck to you! Cheers, Mr. Dave :)
