Hens are NOT legal statewide. There are areas in wester NY WMUs that ONLY allow roosters. Check your gane regs!

Totally agree, it’s definitely the black holes that deer shy away from. I have learn this many years ago hunting the heavy pressured state of Mich. I have shot many deer with shoot thru mesh with a fixed broadhead. Or windows partially open in front of me with all the ones behind me closed , dressed in all back from the waist up . Including black face mask and hands.and sit to the back of the blind as possible.

Many viewers are also probably hunters as I am too. Displaying videos like this where poor shots are taken leaving an animal wounded and obviously suffering is unacceptable. This is not professional. This is not ethical. This is not cool in any way. I am very pro-hunter and pro conservation and am equally appalled that anyone would think this is an appropriate post for public consumption. Fix yourself and stop maiming animals and giving hunters and hunting a bad name.

Here’s my response ALL of these animals were recovered and consumed by my family! Here’s an idea “you” and “you” alone clicked on my video and chose to watch it. If it’s not to your “liking” then MOVE ON and keep your mouth shut!!! Me and no one else on this page or anyone else in the world asked you for your OPINION! Now as far as what you believe as ethical and not ethical explain to me how harvesting animals and recovering EVERY ONE OF THEM doesn’t comply with hunting ethics? How bout you take your obviously “offended opinion” somewhere else!!! Do the right thing buddy and don’t let your internet balls get you into trouble in real life!!!! YOU CHOSE TO CLICK, you chose to watch so keep your opinion to yourself!!!

Just got into DOMAIN Green Machine for a Fall Plot. Anything that has the word grass. I walk away from that mix. One thing i like doing is top dressing my fall plots with clover. It's nice to have clover first thing in the spring. From there, i plant buckwheat until I replant for the fall. My spring and summer plots consist mainly of beans, peas buckwheat, and sunflower. Come fall I top dress with turnips.

I can tell you put a lot of work into this video. For that, I give you credit. But I am sorry to tell you this... your testing is inconclusive. The results you got ate not the same on live animals. There is also a ton of variables with no control group. I will elaborate, but this is going to be a long comment. I'm sorry, there is no way I can make it shorter without doing the bow hunting community wrong. Ballistic gel is uniform. That's what makes it a great test media. But it is a horrible analog for actual animals. Gel, foam, etc are manufactured with one surviving purpose... TO STOP THE PROJECTILE. If they didn't, nobody would buy them. If you are wondering why your penetration was all relatively close to the same for each arrow, that's because the gel was doing it's job. Physics tells us that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. I.e. arrows into a gel target. The more force each arrow has, the harder the gel pushes back. Additionally, every time you shoot the gel and pull the arrow out, you've created a channel where the gel was damaged. This weakens it, and makes it marginally easier for the next arrow to penetrate. By proxy, if you shoot the gel, and leave the arrow in it, you are increasing the overall resistance of the gel. That arrow shaft is occupying space, causing the gel to be slightly more dense. That means each arrow has a slightly "tougher" target to penetrate. Another point of contention is perfect arrow flight. Everyone knows (regardless of where you sit on the light/heavy arrow argument) that if the arrow is flying true and straight, it flies faster, further, and penetrate better... if your bow is tuned for a 450gr arrow, only that arrow will fly correctly. A 375gr and 550gr arrow will leave your bow with a disadvantage which is unfair to results, and unknowingly misrepresented the results. I only bring this up because the actual topic of penetration is actually easy more complex than what the common "archery industry" would have us believe. It's nobody's fault. Most of us see a KZbin video and attempt to replicate the results for ourselves. If you would like to discuss further, I am happy to help where I can. The penetration argument is simply explained with basic physics and common sense. You have a Geo Metro driving straight towards you at 85mph. You see a large cinder block wall, and jump behind it for safety. Now, you have a semi truck doing 50. You hide behind the same wall. Which vehicle makes it through? That analogy is the arrow debate. The cinder block wall is an elk scapula. You are the heart. Like I said, a lot of time went into this video. I give you credit for that, and thank you for your efforts. I also wish you the best success in the deer woods. Happy hunting!

You could cut the first two minutes of that video entirely, and actually make the whole thing better. A ten second voice intro would achieve your goal in a more viewer-friendly way. The same applies to the repetitive process of watching you shoot six shots while listening to loud, repetitive music. I'd prefer to see you describe the arrows, which was really good info, and then skip to the results. The surprising result for me was how little difference there was between the arrows.

Ballistics gel does NOT represent flesh. It was made just so everyone could test ammo with the exact same medium. So just because a bullet or arrow goes let's say 10" in gel, does NOT mean it will go 10" in flesh. Everyone seems to think gel is supposed to represent flesh. The calibration BB goes 4" in gel, but would barely break human skin.

I’ve been practicing with a string every day and absolutely love how it feels and I’ve played around with the adjustments. I learned a new one due to your video and that was being able to bring the thumb button in closer to the release. I really like how that feels and it seems even easier to pull through the shot with literally no hand movement. Looking forward to seeing how this helps.

Back in the day when we started bowhunting, there was not much about heavier arrows, FOC ect... we just bought the the shafts within the right spine parameter... screw in a broadhead make sure it flies true and went hunting and kill everything from warthog to eland... later we heard that the arrows were too light (387gr) apparently... none of the the animals got back up though... I killed 400 animals in 12 years I think KE is overlooked in lighter faster arrows... just my 2c.

Great info...I am just getting into bows and bowhunting, this will be my first season and Ive seen alot of hype on this subject and I have to agree with you on this. Deer can sometimes evade an arrow so I have to say speed wins......the gain in kinetic energy is no way near enough to go for weight rather than speed.......

Since I only draw 60#’s at 28” I use a 426 grain finished arrow for deer etc but I have some 451 grain for pigs. All with Magnus Black Hornets serrated. I just change heads from 100 to the 125’s. I loose 14 fps only but at an average pig shooting range of 25 yards max I just lower about 3 yards on the scope dial. Simple no brainer deal. Those 456 grain arrow will usually penetrate the onside shoulder shield of most pigs to about 175#’s and get into the lungs. I try to never hit the shield but it happens. YOU DONT NEED A 500-550-575 grain arrow to get a pass through on deer, antelope or even elk.
