would do a lot of research before even thinking about a ciaque, I know serval ppl with them and man they are a lot of work, super playtful even when you dont want to play they like rough playing like upside down and on their backs, takes a lot of training and way more time then a green cheek great parrots but not like any other parrot Ive seen they are on a whole nother level.

By far, this is the most complete and genuine reflection on what it's like to have a caique parrot. It will help a lot of potential bird owners and definitely save some birbs!! That dowel perch has to go, it’s so bad for its feet. You need natural perches, variety of sizes, a rope perch . Mine has 5 different styles of perches to choose from + a flat platform to stretch her feet flat and she sleeps on it. You don’t want her to get bumble foot, very painful, then they die.

Oh boy. I just watched your GCC video. Honestly, rehoming was the best option for the birds. The comments repeated told you that caiques are 10x worse than gcc’s. I realize that the caique is your mom’s bird, but if either of you had researched and heeded warnings, you’d know that caiques are an advanced level bird. I’m really not trying to be mean, but after rehoming two birds for normal bird behavior, I hope your family has finally learned that birds are not the right pet for you. Please, don’t get any more, it’s traumatizing for the birds to be constantly rehomed, believe me, it affects them even if you don’t notice.

Pionus parrots can be super social, the issue is on the onwers for not introducing them to others when they are young. That kinda goes for all parrots, people tend to keep them at home and dont have them meet others and interact and that can create issues.

OMG 😱 poor bird 🦜. All those fawning women rubbing his belly, back etc. He had to be SO TURNED ON, SO HORMONAL after that. If you get birds at least read a bit about them. I’m not a bird owner but I worked with them for a few years. I sure wouldn’t want to have a bunch of people fawning over me if I was scared. Pretty bird though.

I have some version of that...the idea is awesome. It does trap your hair often...I think I'm gonna get rid of mine. Too complicated for something that's supposed to make things easier.

Birds bite for specific reasons. As I mentioned in my comment to the other video about your GCC, this is trainable… both in terms of the bird and the human. If your bird is doing stuff around food time, put him in his cage before sitting down to eat. Simple solution. I know people are weird about birds and alcohol, but remember that they dometimes get fermented fruit in nature. This is an unpopular opinion, but as far as I'm concerned, you need to know how much your bird masses, and figure out a safe limit, and only allow two-thirds of that. Some people say the only safe limit is zero, and they're probably right, but all of life has risk. Just saying. Bitds fly, that's what they do. They also chill with the flock sometimes. That's also birds. See above and GCC video for comment on biting. Same goes for chewing. One thing I didn't mention is only scritch the bird's head and neck. Petting their backs is a mate behavior, and this can lead to frustration and aggression. I made this mistake once with an Amazon because I wasn't paying attention to where I was scritching. I have scars. Also, it's a species, not a breed. Caique parrots, for example, are two to four different species in the Genus Pionites (Heine, 1890), depending on the source: P. melanocephalus (Linneaus, 1758) or black-headed caique, P. leucogaster (Kuhl, 1820) or white-bellied caique - the one with which you are shown, along with two others that to most taxonomic societies are subspecies of P. leucogaster, and to BirdLife international, are separate species (I'll use the taxonomy of the International Ornithological Committee): P. leucogaster xanthrus and P. leucogaster xanthomerius. #themoreyouknow Those noises he's making under the sheet (clicking, chatting, and squealing) is a sign of contentedness and excitement. it's a happy birb sound. Twice, I had birds. There's no way in the seven Hells I was going anywhere without my birds. I would rather live in my car with them than give them up (granted, if it got too cold, I might've had to revisit that for the sake of the birds, but it wasn't yet cold). For their sake, please don't get birds and rehome them becuase you're "sick" of them.
