Where'd all the time go? It's starting to fly See how the hands go Waving goodbye And you know I get so forgetful When I look in your eyes Now she's walking backwards (she's walking backwards) Through a parade And I'm stuck in the shadow (stuck in the shadow) Blocking the shade And there ain't no way to sweep up The mess that we've made She gets dressed up like a pillow So she's always in bed Flowers for the sick and dead She's on the go, way too fast and way too slow She'll turn to stone at hospitals and funeral homes And when the fog rises Somebody sighs who is not in disguise anymore There's nothing to keep you (nothing to keep you) From falling in love It starts at the bottom (starts at the bottom) And comes from above Like pieces of a puzzle Like a hand in a glove She gets dressed up like a pillow so she's always in bed Flowers for the sick and dead She's on the go, way too fast and way too slow She'll turn and stop at hospitals and funeral homes And when the tide rises Somebody sinks and is gone in the blink of an eye Somebody sinks and is gone in the blink of an eye

The only way you could make "Lonely Boy" any better is to have Aaron Neville sing it, and even then, he's going to have to be on his best form and work it hard to actually improve it any.

I was born in a bunk Mama died and my daddy got drunk Left me here to die or grow In the middle of Tobacco Road. Grew up in a dusty shack All I had was a-hanging on my back And only you know how I loathe The place called Tobacco Road. But it's home The only life I've ever know Only you know how I loathe Oohh, Tobacco Road. [Instrumental Break] I'm gonna leave and get a job And with some help and grace from above Save some money, an' get rich enough And bring it back to Tobacco Road.

I love this song, and the whole album is absolutely great. For some odd reason, the album is not on the actual Van Der Graaf Generator channel. Because of that, I have only recently discovered the album this week. I love early Pink Floyd, Soft Machine, and VDGG. This album is a pretty good mix of the 3.

This song feels different when you listen to it like when you first graduated, versus years later. The people you think were your friends disappear off the face of the earth. Some advance far in life & become successful, others aren’t so lucky. Lately I haven’t been feeling too lucky, hopefully things can change. Though only the lord knows what will happen in my life. Tell that boy/girl how you feel before you never see them again. Life is too short to have regrets. Please don’t be like me, I was such a fool for not telling her how I felt. But she went to college and I stayed in my hometown, she’s a smart girl and went to UCLA to become a neuroscientist. I wish the best for her. I don’t recommend being bf/gf, that will only bring you sadness and an empty bank account. Surround yourself with good, likeminded people. Have fun, go crazy, but also have respect & discipline for yourself. If you find yourself in a rut like me, find motivation, something that makes you happy. What do you want in life? How far are you willing to push? The squeaky wheel gets the grease. Wishful thinking for success isn’t going to fall in your lap. I’m currently 19, don’t let time slip by because it will, and you won’t notice it. Grab it by the horns and wrangle it. Focus on your life. Success comes when you work hard on yourself everyday.

Ahhh the sounds of Bo Ridley and Mona were running through my head late one night at the Sunset Orange Motel, two days into a recording session at American studios. Sean played an acoustic guitar sitting on his bed as I worked the song out to be hastily recorded the next morning. Sitar tracks were added later. At that moment in time, the Pretty Things had not registered on our listening scale. Years later we picked up on them......
