Great video, awesome work! What are you checking at the 5:56 mark with what looks like a feeler gauge sitting on one side of the top of the piston and leaning against the top side of the cylinder jug on the opposite side?

Great vid. Makes me thankful there are good builders out there for us racers. I have a couple questions if you don’t mind. Why did you not split the crank and/or balance it. I saw in another comment the engine was new so I guess maybe that’s why, but If so, why do you replace piston and crank bearings and seals on a new KA? Do you build tighter than the iame recommended gap (0.09mm iirc) and/or are you enlarging the bore a couple sizes to increase displacement? Also, why did you measure the bore and then after take it to be honed? I am not a builder, that’s for sure, but I figured the bore would be measured after the hone and then the right piston selected and double checked. Also, if it’s new, then why hone it at all? Is there a better cross hatch pattern than iame stock maybe or was it just to up size the displacement? Last question, if you were doing just a top end rebuild, is there any need to split the cases or is it just hone cylinder, replace the piston, replace and gap ring, and probably replace wrist pin, small end bearing, and clips if needed? Would you expect the port heights, timing, and squish to remain the same with just a top end, assuming same base and head gasket, or would one still need to be able to measure and check all that also even just doing a top end? Thanks for answering my dumb questions.

Yes. Cheap it was. Should have said you’d have a world class video there if it was in real time with a step by step commentary explaining the process. It would spread like wildfire throughout the karting community. Nixing the children of the corn music would also go a long way.

In theory, what would be the absolute most hp you could squeeze out of one of these? Not to race in any restricted league just for personal fun
@UltFrizz4 жыл бұрын
You could bore it out to 54mmm and make a alloy spacer under the barrel and you should see somewhere up near 30hp

@@UltFrizz thnx for the reply . Im liking these more now. What brand/model clutches do you run on them? Ive already got a ported sachs km24 295cc a/c wankel that ive fitted a noram enforcer clutch on. Apparently good for 40hp but has #40 pitch. Not ideal as harder to get sprockets here in new zealand. Would much rather have a standard karting pitch clutch with 1" bore, has to handle 30+ish hp though. Cheers

How often do you have to rebuild these engines ? Would it be about the same as a cr125 ? Also, would the x30 125cc need rebuild more often than say the x30 175cc ?

why would you make a lap out of copper instead of aluminium which is cheaper
@UltFrizz8 жыл бұрын
Copper is softer and holds diamond powders better. When purchasing copper plate from scrap yards it doesn't cost that much.
