What I love about 60s pop songwriting is they were using such interesting chord structures and rhythms. This is a great example of that. The main section is like a chorus on top of a verse with that call and response with the hook. Then completely changing up the rhythm for the B section. It works because not only is every bit of it catchy, but the arrangement and playing is kind of rough. It wouldn’t be as good if they used all studio players and made it perfect.

Stunning rendition of this song. Neil finn is a real talent. I was lucky enough to see him perform this live last night too.

I spent many nights of my life watching their videos. Even though the shows were repeated, it was always cool to see a new show. This has always been my favorite type of magic, magic for fun and not for illusion.

This song got me through a particularly hard break up. still listening to it today to remind me I'm a better person for it.

Since first hearing Justin Currie with Del Amitri I've always thought of him as the most underrated singer/songwriter I've ever heard. I'm so sad to hear of his health from a personal friend of his and only wish for the best for him.
