Yeah that's right I was the illustrator for this whole Silver Bells comic (for main characters at least cuz someone else was doing the backgrounds); I dropped out because I wasn't as sophisticated with art back then as I am now (as you can tell from the clearly traced drawings of the classic sprites), as well as having little to no experience with making comics. Of course now I'm doing my own comic series called Metazoa, but back then, I had no friggin' clue how the process worked. I kinda regret bailing out on the project cuz, one, that felt like a dick move, and two, I really liked the idea of Silver Bells and it was a shame it didn't come to fruition.

When do _Civil War_ and _Vida a la Legión_ take place? The other films have dates (March 2010, Thanksgiving 2010, Easter 2011, May 2012, September 2012), so when do these happen?

I recently decided to watch a KZbin video about the beta version of Sonic the Hedgehog 1, despite already being familiar with most of the information presented. This decision stemmed from a deep-seated nostalgia and an enduring interest in the history of video game development. Sonic the Hedgehog, a cornerstone of my childhood, has always fascinated me with its development journey. Revisiting the beta version offered a fresh perspective on a beloved classic, highlighting the evolution of game design and the creative process behind one of gaming's most iconic characters. One of the primary reasons for watching the video was to reconnect with my childhood memories. Sonic the Hedgehog was a significant part of my early gaming experiences, and exploring the beta version allowed me to relive those moments. The beta version represents a time before the game became polished and widely recognized, providing a glimpse into the raw, unrefined stages of development. This nostalgic journey not only rekindled fond memories but also deepened my appreciation for the final product that had such a profound impact on my formative years. Additionally, my decision was influenced by a desire to understand the intricacies of game development better. Even though I knew most of the information, seeing the beta in a visual format offered a different learning experience. The video highlighted the changes and improvements made during the development process, shedding light on the challenges and decisions faced by the developers. This insight into the iterative nature of game design was both enlightening and inspiring, emphasizing the importance of perseverance and creativity in overcoming obstacles. Moreover, watching the video provided an opportunity to engage with the Sonic community. The comments section and the creator’s narration offered diverse perspectives and additional trivia that enriched my understanding of the game. Engaging with fellow fans and enthusiasts allowed me to share my thoughts and learn from others, fostering a sense of community and shared passion. This interaction is a testament to the lasting legacy of Sonic the Hedgehog and its ability to bring people together through a common interest. In conclusion, my decision to watch the KZbin video about Sonic the Hedgehog 1's beta was driven by nostalgia, a desire for deeper understanding, and community engagement. Despite being familiar with much of the content, the experience provided new insights and rekindled my appreciation for a game that shaped my early years. Revisiting the beta version of Sonic the Hedgehog 1 was not just about revisiting old information but about celebrating the journey of a timeless classic and its impact on both individual lives and the broader gaming community.

3:38 I don't know if this is a well known theory, I just found this theory on the spriter's resource, labyrinth zone was originally intended to have no air bubbles, and would instead have air pockets here, and the more you would breathe the less air would be in the pockets. but the devs thought this was too challenging and instead changed it to the way it now is.

Good video, though you often spliced in footage of one of the beta recreations in (you can tell because Sonic in that build is a lot more cyan, like in Mania) (also no you can't put in the UFOs using debug mode because they're tiles and not objects)

1:17 i'm pretty sure marble zone screenshots came later, and are actually mockups, not the real deal, you can see that the shading on sonic is different from his TTS 90' counterpart 1:23 not the same, the logo has been moved down, the shading on sonic is different, the letters became bigger and sonic's eyes aswell 1:34 one fact: one single tile remnant of that text was supposedly kept unused in the recently found nick arcade prototype 8:42 its's speculated that the spring is supposedly meant for an earlier version of the sparkling zone boss, as for the legs, there's one piece of concept art in the final product where eggman uses those legs, not to mention, the final game actually uses an yellow variant of those legs during the final boss escape

8:45 this is actually something ive never heard of which is interesting. or was it just something you said to build up to the opium joke?
@gwsljp3 ай бұрын
No, the speed fact IS true, but how early on Sonic was slowed down is a mystery. It would have to have been pretty early in development, though after the game's story as well as a few of the zones were finalized.

i was gonna makea question coment but before I do that just wanna say I DID NOT EXPECT THIS VIDEO TO BE THIS UNPOPULAR. ITS SUPER GOOD! anyways I haven't really been keeping up with the sonic prototype community since 2021. I was gonna ask about when you said all footage after this point is fanmade I was confused cause you mentioned things about these prototypes as if they were in the actual beta. i wasn't sure if the footage you were showing was from build found back in august of 2020 or not. was fanmade just referring to the gameplay?
@gwsljp3 ай бұрын
@Dbombre The reason I used that gameplay footage is because the exact prototype that was dumped was still a fairly cleaned up and more finalized edition of the game, so take what I said about having everything I went over with a grain of salt. The video I used had everything noteworthy I wanted to talk about, even though it was just a fan recreation. There are other walkthroughs of that recreation but they don't do a good job showcasing the cut bits, they go through it wayyyyy too fast.

Awesome video man! If I were to give one critique, it would be the minute long cutaway gag. I think it’s really funny, but could have been cut down. I know there was a time stamp to skip it, but even then the full gag gets kinda stale after a while. Either way this video is very funny, and informative. The hell did a write like that for a video thats eleventh word is “fuck”
