Hi Jess, I realize this is an older comment but wanted to give my reply. All members of this ensemble are professional musicians who have been trained at the collegiate level in concert percussion. We use the technique that produces the musical sounds we desire. I would be happy to go into further detail if you, or anyone else has a question about why we decided to play this way.
