Hi good video, just a little detail- in your green tea soap you are missing WATER in your label requirement 😉
@brbgoatmilksoapКүн бұрын
There is actually a good reason for that... we don't use water in our soap. "wink" So to put water on our label would actually be untrue. If you want to learn how to make goat milk soap using just goat milk, here is a link to our class we host most Monday's... it's only $27, and we would love to have you! shop.brbgoatmilksoap.com/live-goat-milk-soapmaking-class/

I just shared actual emails with Marie Gale - the foremost expert on soap and cosmetic labeling in the U.S. - and you actually cannot put "saponified oils of" on your label. You must use an "in the pot label" on your products meaning whatever you put into the pot to make your soap MUST be on the label. Saponified oils is misleading so your label must say sodium hydroxide so there is no confusion for the consumer.
@brbgoatmilksoapКүн бұрын
If that is true, I am elated! It pained me to have to say that you could use the words "saponified oils" in your labeling, but I was told differently! More research needed! Thanks for pointing that out! And ABSOLUTELY...if you want more than a beginner's-level look at labeling, check out Marie's KZbin videos! She is amazing and so knowledgeable!

This video just popped up on my feed. I enjoyed it very much. I will be watching more of your videos. I am just starting out in soap making. I put the soaps I give to family and friends in a small cardboard box that has a little window on them. Does that let them dry out any. Thanks again for this and all your videos.

Thank you so much for sharing this! I never realized that you needed an address on the labels and you really had me thinking of ways to go about this. I've never sold before but was thinking about it since it is so fun for me. Dont why youtube threw you my way but i am so glad and you've gotten a new subscriber! I did read that there was a possibility that there would be a change in the address requirements for next year(2025), fingers crossed!

I still shrink-wrap my soap as many people handle my soaps, I feel that it keeps them clean from handling and dust, but I do wait to wrap them after the 4-6 weeks after making them. I can still smell them when they are wrapped so each to there own :)

Thank you so much! I’m considering making soap as a retirement plan hopefully in 2026. I’m on developing my recipes stage. I was considering wrapping my soaps after the 6 week drying period because I was worried about dust. Maybe my mind hasn’t realized that the product may move quickly. Thank you, taking notes from your content.

Maybe talk to a few friends about what they think about goat milk soap, or handmade soap in general to see what the interest is, even there. I suspect you won't have to worry about dust!

There are lots of options when choosing oils. And thank you for the respectful disagreement! I love that this can be a conversation where everyone benefits! This video is aimed at the beginning soap enthusiast, both the shopper and the soaper who want to make sure what they purchase or what they are making will behave as they want. Not to exclude other possibilities, but to give a confident start to either person!

Loving your videos! You’re soooo good at educating! Thank you for just being simple and not adding the extra “fluff” of music and jumpy videos which can be incredibly annoying😊. Got one question for ya. Sandalwood EO doesn’t seem to “stick” in CP soap. Do you think the kaolin clay would work to keep the fragrance like it does in citrus?
@brbgoatmilksoap4 күн бұрын
I believe that could help, yes! Give it a try and see what happens! Another thing to think about is the quality of the Sandalwood EO. If you have a good quality EO, then Kaolin clay should help. If you have a "cheap" EO, then nothing is going to make that better. Just things to consider!

Hi there, I'm on the beginning of my soap business journey, everyone love my soaps, that conversation I had many times and always I'm found a support form people. However is also plenty of questions which I don't know the answers for, like what to do with soap which is lye havey?? Some cosmetic assesment companies says we need stability testing, some that we don't need. But if we don't how to estimate expire date??? How to prepare pif file ?? So many questions🙃 I will be really grateful if someone answer at the above questions. And I wish to everyone happy Soaping 😊
@brbgoatmilksoap4 күн бұрын
I'm curious about the "cosmetic assessment company" and "pif" file. Could you clarify?
@aga_n9163 күн бұрын
@brbgoatmilksoap Hi there, I realised after I sent this message that some countries are not having restrictions like Europe, UK - I'm from Ireland, and here we need to have CPSR - Cosmetic Product Safety Report, only cosmetic companies with certain dyploms can make for you, cost usualy also depens from quantity of soap variations. And on the top, pif document, is just a file, were we are having details description of how we are making soap, plus all documentation from your suppliers about products, like shea butter, and others which we are using in soap. I actually already figured out how to do pif. It is not too complicated but time-consuming. - then all with CPRS I need to upload to the Cosmetic product notification portal, which I hope I will make it before December. Wish me luck 😊

There are many KZbinrs presenting information some good some less so. But can I say when I hear you it’s as though I am listening to someone who really cares, it’s like having my cup of tea with a friend and we don’t even live on the same side of the world. I have just completed all registration/legal requirements here in Aus, and now ready to try selling after 4 years of learning, perfecting and trialling on friends and family even the parcel delivery man, no charge. Yes the interest started two years ago to sell even to cover costs but confidence failed at that time. Lovely listening today Thank you

Hi I took your goat milk soap class and loved it. I would love to join your group but I am interested in making soaps with natural colorants and essential oils not micas and fragrances. Will you have a spin of that is geared towards the more natural ingredients?
@brbgoatmilksoap20 күн бұрын
That is in the works, but we need to create it from scratch, so that will take some time. We have some projects in Sassy Soapers that have used all natural additives, but probably not enough to be what you are looking for. Send me an email if you would like to discuss options there further!

I love making soap I trained to sell but I couldn't find any marketing or anyone interested in buying from me a soap in Switzerland that's why I lost a lot of money, the olive oil prices get higher triple time and the same with the Coconuts oil butter, the fragrance is the same as higher here in Switzerland and the color is the same as higher sometimes I bring the color from the nature like from the blueberries from curcuma to make a honey soap or to make lavender so I use the blueberries with the cranberries to create that violet color, I used the olives oil as bass oil and I add 20% coconut butter. I printed my paper for covering I couldn't stand in the market maybe I should find a different market.
@brbgoatmilksoap20 күн бұрын
That might work. If you feel you have too much competition in a certain market, sometimes just going to a different location will make a difference! And yes, high prices stink!

I like your approach, friendly down to earth just as if we were sitting together having a chat. That was so nice I don’t have family in my State and have moved my entire life so good friends (not acquaintances/ex colleagues ) are few here where I live. But Let me tell you a little of what I did after two years of making and being pretty pleased with my products I offered/gave as gifts (not registered to sell) to family interstate (I mailed packages) and friends here, even tradespeople with one person our parcel delivery man he was in say 30s age bracket married with child. A month later I was not home when hubby took in a parcel, the delivery man asked if I was home as I’d given him some soap which they loved and wondered if I had more ……. Well I did but not home opportunity lost Hubby didn’t like to give out my product. And we have new delivery people not person these days. I’ve just finished doing all the legal aspects before selling soap here in Aus. I posted on my Facebook acct to friends and family before seeing your video that I was getting ready to try selling, at 80 I thought someone would say “what are you thinking” but no all either thought a great idea, offered best wishes some even said you make great soap. Now it’s the next step find how to get a table at a local market.

Like another reader I too do not use Palm oil, having seen myself the destruction of native forests in Asiatic countries for palm oil plantations. Your information is good one thing I think you missed in relation to lather was the type of lather (bubbles) produced, I like many also include products that give conditioning bars, Shea & Cocoa butters. I do include castor oil and use part goat or coconut milk. I use the scale which soap calc provide when designing a soap recipe to ascertain the potential end product, if good I go ahead and test it. This is how I came up with my final main recipe (having used recipes from other good soapers when learning) my bars do provide a good creamy lather despite no palm oil. Not huge bubbles but lovely creamy ones. Again thank you the information you gave is helpful for beginners One other point for those new watching who are new and not in the USA there are strict legal requirements on labelling soap products both here in Australia and in Europe these include the order of products used, and terminology (INCI names) required, the latter is a new change here in Australia There are also requirements on the layout of the label. Thanks.

This is a very good and also very opinionated topic. I don’t use palm oil in my soaps but also don’t use water( only for my Aleppo type soap. Beside that it’s AloeVera straight from my plants to make the lye solution or any kind of fruit/ vegetable juice allowing the natural sugar content enhance the lather. A great soap, Castle soap, doesn’t has almost any lather or is slimy ( don’t like it personally but one of my most requested soaps. I believe the main point is a good balanced recipe that will create a not stripping bar of soap. Thank you
@brbgoatmilksoap24 күн бұрын
Opinionated topic, yes. And if you meant that I am opinionated about it, you would also be correct! "smile" This video is inspired by two people: the older farmer at my craft show table holding a soap and looking at me over his glasses asking "is this gonna lather?" He doesn't want "one of them there fancy soaps", he wants a soap that is going to get the chore grubbiness off, and hopefully help his work-chapped hands. Now, is he watching this KZbin video, likely not, but people who are just getting interesting in handmade soaps, and goat milk soap in particular, need a place to start when trying to figure out how a soap will behave. The other person is the one who is just getting started in soapmaking. I have seen quite a few of them stall out in their soapmaking because they think they need to understand all of the nuances of oil selection and additives, and using natural sugars to enhance the lather... and they just aren't ready for all of that. They need to understand the basics of lather, and know that they have a recipe that is going to do what they expect a soap would do, have a good amount of lather. They need the reassurance that they don't have to understand everything to get started. They can make a good bar of soap with beginners amount of knowledge, and produce a product that will perform well.

I am a soap maker as well and was referring exactly to all those questions we get during live shows and even some times from people trying to place an order. Blessings to you. Thank you

I love citrusy smells and I love mints as well. For citrus I mix them with kaolin clay and also use some fixator essential oils to enhance the fragrance. Lemongrass of course is one of my favorite but since the usage rate is so low now and mixed as well. Litsea cubeba last very well along with bergamot. Thank you.
