Spoiler: The System ISN'T BROKEN or misdesigned. Its NOT a "good" or "neutral" machine. Its a possessed mangler, and it does what its MEANT to do: Kill and TAKE, grind up life and produce PRODUCTS or marketable commodities, crush life down into market data, abstract units of labor power, productivity statistics, and its scandalously REAL-WORLD DOLLAR VALUE. A "government of laws, and not men"... since when have laws ever NOT been made by and FOR men, self-interested or group self-interested flesh n' blood MEN? Blindness in the ruled is praised by the one-eyed when they rule, as it benefits them. "Faith in the law" and the "gradual and peaceful means of social redress" is such blindness, praised for the same reasons. Whether its the Media, your Master/Boss, the State, or Capital's Usurocrats and Functionaries (landlord, HR, insurance, loan officers, etc.) Homo Sacer IS YOU without your I.D. or bank account or prospective vote. Don't believe me? Try being homeless 120 days. Then 8 winters.

Can we please cover all the sonnets of Shakespeare? I know I'm asking for too much, and I wouldn't have, if you weren't explaining it. I have a strong desire to read all of his sonnets, and I see no one but you!!!

how do we draw diagrams with Question tags? Thanks!
@thenatureofwriting9222Ай бұрын
Good question. I don't believe most sentence diagramming books cover question tags. As explained in the video, normally with a question you diagram it as a regular sentence. E.g., "Do you like fries" is diagrammed as "You do like fries." So I would do the same with the question tag, but perhaps place it by itself as a separate sentence.

Many thanks for your video. Very informative and useful. On one point I am somewhat surprised that you chose Augustine as your example of the first person to apply allegorical interpretations to scripture. Philo of Alexandria predates Augustine by several centuries and developed and explained this mode of reading. I am not sure if any other author predates Philo,. Do you know? I guess you could understand it as being implicit in Plato for example, but never made explicit until Philo and later thinkers.
@thenatureofwriting92222 ай бұрын
Thanks for pointing out the importance of Philo (and others) in this tradition. I should clarify that I did not mean to suggest that Augustine was the first person to apply allegorical interpretations to scripture. What I said was that in Christianity this allegorical approach "was there from the beginning" and then I used Augustine as an example. Allegory is already used in the New Testament (e.g., see Galatians 4 for Paul's allegorical reading of Hagar and Sarah). Sorry if that was confusing.

@@thenatureofwriting9222 Quite possible that I misheard :). Thanks for pointing out about Galatians. I wasn't aware and will look into it.
@thenatureofwriting92222 ай бұрын
@@TheExceptionalState The King James Version uses the word "Allegory" in Galatians 4:24, though more recent translations often use different language. It's a controversial subject among Christians, many are suspicious of artificial allegorical interpretations. Anyway, all the best with your studies and thanks for the response!

I thought a poem stands to the interpretation of each reader, so how can there be a wrong and a right way of interpreting it. That kind of limits based encompassing is setting many free thinkers up to fail - hope students don't get marked down for giving it as much as they've got, it should not be used if it going to be thrown at a student in a testing situation because you might just get an anxious response rather than a fully rounded interpretation of the student at their best. 😮

Shortly after my wife went through 3 craniotomies, 2 rounds of chemo, and radiation treatment that left her partially paralyzed, I came across this poem, and all the ink spilled over it, and I wrote this: PRECISELY for my wife so much depends upon the gray steel blade in accurate fingers scraping her brain tumor.

Thank you for addressing this construction, as you said, it's not commonly covered in diagramming books. Would you also give some instruction on how to diagram catentative verbs? Thank you.
@thenatureofwriting92224 ай бұрын
Thanks for the feedback. I haven't come across the term "catenative verb" in the various books on diagramming I consulted, but will look into it further when I make some more videos. They have some similarities to complementary infinitives.
