So what's the point of buying a budget guitar if you're just going to change the pots, the pickups, the bridge, the neck and the tuners. ... You pretty much just built yourself another guitar! 🤣 Sounds like this is to be avoided.

I am a MIDI DAW newbie. As I've been loading various free plugins I noticed some install in various methods and folders. Essentially I've made a mess of folders not knowing what you you mention in this video. I am now thinking to do a total re-install and see if I can get things in a better order. With that, should I always have all plugins installed into the same folder no matter what type they are? Steinberg seems to have a need for their own folder for their plugins.

I this can help, I've got the Dr D and the Rodent... I play them with a telecaster single coïl, and a HB Tube5 amp... I thought it would give two different kind of saturation sound... maybe one bluesy, the other more rock / grunge... and in fact I can hardly make a real difference in term of sounding between them... It's not exactly the same sound, but not that much different too... I think I will return the Dr D, because I take more pleasure using the Rodent, which has a little more of a bluesy soul... And I like playing simple solo with simple pentatonic scales with blues / rock / jazz backing tracks... In fact the Dr D would have been enought too, and I could have used it instead, but I have to make a choice to take back my 20€ 🙃 and the little difference makes the balance tip in favor of the rodent (the "rat")... but both are good... I would say that the Dr D sounds a little more as a box sound... less treble, even turning the tone button... The rodent gives a little more expressive sounding... especially when playing note by note... but if playing chords, such as an Am for example, in open shape, or bared on 5th, or bared on 12th, there is not too much difference... Maybe I'm not the "good player" for the Dr D.

Great demo. question, were the pickup heights the same? cause that affects the output and response of the pickup. Also the Norton has a cover on it which changes the sound. I think if the Norton didnt have a cover it would have more clarity or that top end fizz the JB has. It has a more barky midrange as opposed to the JBs grindy midrange. A lot more vocal. Definitely considering the Norton for my Parker fly...

@@haveguitarLol, yeah a lot of younger guys probably don't appreciate KISS or get it. I grew up listening to music, stuff mom and my family played on records they had. It was either that or local radio stations that played a plethora of different songs...mostly old stuff! People don't think much of old KISS songs as things have really changed in Rock music everything's so heavy and polished it's the norm now! But as an older man about 60 I can tell them that "hey, I was around back then and KISS was the heaviest thing around back then! We were stuck listening to music on the radio and records at home. Radio kinda sucked back then in the 70s...we were forced to listen to Bing Crosby, old Elvis, beatles pop music. The coolest stuff we got airplay on was ABBA, The Carpenters, CCR, ELO, Elton, Billy Joel and Lynyrd Skynard, Steppenwolf, Stairway to Heaven by Led Zep...that was the only song they got played on the radio. DP w/ Smoke on the water that was it! KISS had Rock-'n'-roll all nite for their single. KISS was the loudest, aggressive and coolest! Lol, I remember having friends over back then and I'd play these KISS albums and it freaked them all out! They couldn't handle it! They held their ears, it scared the shit out of them because it was angry and nasty sounding...but also infectious instrumental parts. Kiss's production was top notch with crunch guitar highs and mids...but also Peters drums were EQd the best of anyone in the 1970s with lots of high EQ on the hats and cymbals! Everyone else productions back then was very muddy, boomy bass, and drums that sounded like someone beating on soggy cardboard boxes! Lol. Anyway, if you didn't live life back then when KISS was blazing a trail for Hard Rock/ Heavy Metal you wouldn't understand how KISS stood out and paved the way for what we heard today!
@Dale-wb9lz
@Dale-wb9lz 2 ай бұрын
I wanted to add the mostly what we heard on the radio was rather wimpy stuff. We constantly heard the Beach Boys, Beatles pop hits, Jim Croce, CCR, 50s and 60s pop music that was what was in rotation constantly. This is what we forced to hear on radio. The other harder groups I mentioned earlier got played occasionally...and they weren't hard rock! Lol. KISS was consider Hard Rock/Acid Rock/ and Heavy Metal and it was like pulling teeth to get the local radio DJs to play KISS music. Everyone thought they were demonic and scary! Lol. Hell, I remember reading rock magazine articles that they even scared the shit out of Black Sabbath! True story Lol!!!

Great job on this song selection and tutorial! 👍 I started as a KISS fan back in '75 when KISS ALIVE was released as I could afford the buy the first few albums and heard this song I love it! Loved the production as well it is dry, raw and in your face! The drums are EQd great love the hight end hihat sound and the rhythm guitars sounded like no one else... More Metal sounding than anything around at that time! Sounded like a buzz saw cutting through wood! KISS was always underrated as a group back in the day!

I didn't realise my 2017 model doesn't have caps, and when attempting to remove it on the low E string, it appears to have damaged the mechanism inside and it no longer rotates. Profiles/Captures sounds good in all of the plugins, but not a fan of it.... Have to constantly search and scroll the profiles with infinite settings.... I think Profiles/Capture works best if somebody already has a rig and want to travel around with it without a hassel...
