I think it still sounds better than a standard CB80 Scania. But doesn't top 1111, (2)841/43 in 2020-2021.

What is that hub or retarder noise that occurred at roughly 2:05? I haven't noticed in anything MANs newer than 1760. I recall being present on SL202s as well.

Great work there, Nathan. At some point tomorrow, I will be having a video uploaded onto my channel of Ex Torrens 1501 - Port Pirie as I have driven up there today in my Corolla from Adelaide, my Mum's place. I am up here in Adelaide until September 2nd. From William. Bill's Channel 1987.

So … that's a LOT of extra mileage across the Nullarbor, twice!! Is there a law against taking it on the O-Bahn once it's back in Adelaide, haha?

Everything just feels a bit calmer in Adelaide. Sssh, quiet down everyone.

Hmm I wonder if this was almost equivalent to the articulated Mercedes buses I saw in Hannover Germany in 1999-2000.

I still remember the first time I saw one of these models, coming down George Street as I waited at Town Hall. It had such a square front that for a brief moment I thought I was looking at a tram! I was still very pleased with it as it came up to the stop. Very nice front panel, very smart looking headlights. This was before they had that diagonal cross-beam added to the foremost side windows.

RIP, best buses Sydney ever had, despite the engine strength. I went to the CeBIT expo in Hannover Germany in 2000, and they had this bus everywhere - plus a bunch of articulated (bendy bus) versions! If it wasn't for the doors on the wrong side I'd have loved to steal one and bring it back to Sydney for us. Drivers found this 1998-1999 bus not very powerful, BUT, passengers find it very forgiving. Not only is there less jerk on the acceleration, the engine eases the deceleration, and most importantly, the bucket seats provided very needed core muscle support for those wobbly streets. You could even rest your entire forearm on the windowsill - these were two friendly elements removed in every bus after the new millennium. Since this great bus it's been lousy. Other than the B-Line, it's awful cheap bench seats everywhere for the last 25 years, and if you sit on one half because somebody else is on the other half, you always tilt sideways and fall off. You have to use those core muscles again - for the whole trip - just to stop your hips from tilting.

Nice seeing Busways have a Yutong E12 on the road in SA, in Western Sydney they've got quite a few (which were acquired second hand), but I have to say it's surprising that there isn't a Custom Denning Element in SA yet. I presume this is a ZK6131HGE with a low-entry layout and steps up to the rear, aside from that the E12 is quite a solid vehicle and despite a cheap price tag Yutongs have very good build quality. Would love to see inside this vehicle.
