Wondering how successful I can be at this being very but willing to learn. I am currently working as a CDL truck driver and looking to get out of the industry. I'd have to replace my six figure income to go with this full time. Any suggestions (I signed up for the waiting list for the phone call) as to how long it takes to make that kind of money. I hate driving truck...lol

How can I sign up for the Bookkeeping Accelerator in January? Should I get my QBO Cert before signing up for Accelerator? Thank you!!

The waitlist is here: www.akadian.com/waitlist. It is about bookkeeping and does not require knowledge of QBO.

Don't. Be. Lazy! Working as a friend's bookkeeper, I got SO lazy about logging the receipts in one year. Lo & behold, when I had to go back through & clean up my own work, I didn't have what I needed & couldn't get them due to an office fire. That's the biggest lesson I learned this year & reiterating that to our clientele is crucial!

I just finished your proadvisor level 1 certification course, no clients, no other finance experience, still working my full time job. What would you suggest my LinkedIn header look like? Don’t want it to be misleading but definitely want to get that certification visible and move that direction

well, if the owner won’t do what’s necessary to provide that info, there’s not much the bookkeeper can do. Yes there are bad bookkeepers but a lot is dependent on the client.

Hello Margie, I have your clean up course so, my question to you is isn't it better to charge for the Diagnostic Review As apposed to doing it for free?
@akadianeducation14 күн бұрын
You can do whatever you want. Corry does not charge for hers, so that's what we teach in the course. Others make a good case for charging, however--a doctor would never give you a diagnosis for free!

I do think it makes a difference on the level of service your client pays for. For example, if a client is Paying for classification but conciliation and financial reports and their fee reflects that then that’s all they’re going to get. If the client requires more time and detailed review of reports, then that has to be accounted for in the price.
@akadianeducation16 күн бұрын
I understand what you're saying here, but we believe that reconciliation should be a basic service delivered as part of any package. If you are not offering this basic service, you're really doing the business owner an injustice.

Excellent feedback. Am I wrong if I say that it would be nice if new bookkeepers volunteer first for accountants so we could learn from them? Good luck Ms. Margie on your new Accounting education. Hands on! Hands on! may work much much better with your new approach and I, indeed, recommend anyone out there to take your Accounting classes. Kudos to your team!
@akadianeducation16 күн бұрын
Accountants might feel it is a burden to have them work for them for free, as they typically don't have time to train new people. If you are going to volunteer (which I don't see a need to, but it's your choice), it would be better to volunteer for a business owner, then show off your skills when you hand off the books to the accountant/tax preparer.

I'd suggest finding a competent bookkeeper rather than a CPA. Unfortunately, there are lots of CPAs who are just as careless as the bookkeepers they're discussing.

Question. If you buy something in credit doesn’t the cash stay the same? This would become a liability for you because you owe the money. You haven’t paid it yet or am I thinking of something else? Is been a while 😆
