according to my history teacher, not only you got to have a college degree, you have to be on the top of the class, straight A's student maybe, if your not the top of the class, you just wasted 4 years of your life, people wants promotion, people want opportunity, people want top of the line potition, otherwise lot of people dont want to end up being a skipper of the gun boat, if you were fourtinately, you could retire at age of 60 years old, Getting a captain opportunity is hard and rare, you wont have a chance.

Outstanding training video (I like all your videos). I am studying for my 100/200 Mate license and using Maritime Advancement training USB that I ordered. I'm not really a fan of their instructional videos that come with the program. So, thank-you for the content, very helpful.

What about a case like iii), but when the lower vessel has wind from the starboard side? Unsure how the Rule 12 applies here.

@uscaptainstraining 28 күн бұрын

@@uscaptainstraining Sorry, after re-thinking and discussing it with my friend captain - it's not that super clear. Assuming the windward vessel is propelled by huge spinnaker, or it's square rigged - his ability to change the course is very limited, and also he might be cruising at much higher speed. If I remain stand-on - the risk of collision is high.
