It's pretty durable. I've shot it for a few years now. I think I made it in 2021, and I'm still shooting it. (However this is my back-up target for when I don't go to the range, so I a haven't shot it every day or anything). In Germany we separate two kind of archery tournaments. Both with unkown distances. One is the 3D Hunting Mode. 2 arrows each target. Both arrows count. Max distance ist 30 meters. The other is 3D Sports. 3 arrows. First hit counts. Max distance for selfbows ist 54 meters.

Hi John, nice video. Just one quesion. Why do you 'aim' with your index finger?
@littlejonarcher3 ай бұрын
Thank you 😃I use it to find a point of reference on the horizon, as my hand is covering the entire target when shooting at this distance. I normally don't shoot gap, but at 50m I kind of have to. So I've found two points on my finger, where the lower point is in the yellow, and the top point is where my arrow point needs to be at full draw if I'm to hit the target at this distance.

That is an interesting three parted competition you are training for. Is this type common in Norway? I only know either shooting on targets or 3d-Animals but never a mixture... it is interesting though
@littlejonarcher3 ай бұрын
Just sat down to reply to some comments when I saw yours (usually I'm not this quick to reply 😋). Thank you for your interest! The competition I am training for here is the national championship for historical archery, which is held every year by Norsk Langbuelag (The Norwegian Longbow Guild - approximate translation there..!) They also have an annual inndoor competition where the target and distances also differs from regular archery. NL is not associated with Ianseo or anything, but it is a seperate archery league here in Norway (as I've come to understand it at least). So no, it is not a common type of archery. There are also different rules, dresscodes etc. I may do a seperate video on this at some point. HOWEVER: There is another more common type where one shoot at both targets and 3D animals, called Field Archery. The targets are however pictures of animals. So you'll face a mix of paper targets with animals and 3D targets, and both known and unknown distances. I think this is pretty common around Europe, though I've yet to try it. Looks fun though! Thanks for watching. I hope you'll stick around for future uploads 😃 (And feel free to comment/reply if you have any more questions!)

@@littlejonarcher thx for the answer. Since I am a primitive bow enthusiast myself (english longbows as well as other types) I like to watch videos with people shooting primitive Bows ; ) and your training sparked interest. I very much despise target archery, it is just not for me, I have somehow trouble keeping interest and concentration up shooting boring circles : )... Rain would be a big issue, when we keep a physical score book in 3d practice sessions. I am not sure about the viability of waterproof pages. Maybe you can include a cute little cover for your book. It would be nice to have little more space in the notes section to write about the take away from that particular session.

Concern with zero comments out of 1k views. So caught the finger shot/range finder interesting. Yet you gloss over arrows/bows[2?] products/material and a simple pen, pencil or nocking/scarring the two arrow would have help you not reshoot. Maybe make a half dozen with a few cm longer/shorter to test. Marking 1-6 and recording results with range performance will give you a better picture. Good luck

Thank you for taking the time to comment, and I appreciate the tips! Has you can see even asking questions brings questions. Budgeting is always a factor; 45# with a 28 draw testing with 29? spruce 45-50 spine arrows with wght field tips.
