Thank you for the question. I personally do not know if they can be taken apart. I think there is usually a rod pushed through and then cut back in such a way they do not come off, as a screw would eventually undone. I have in the past spent a while cutting out the fabric scraps, cotton threads, and pet hair that has been caught in our office chair wheels. I'm sorry not to have been more helpful, but there might be some nice person on KZbin who has already worked this problem out. We can not be the only two people who have problems with these wheels and things caught in them.

I advise people to order from a company that deals with foam rather than picking it up at your local craft shop as it is usually overpriced for the quality you are paying for. I did have a lady say she ordered hers online, so Google for suppliers and see what comes up, or even visit your local upholsterers, they might be able to help as they will be local to you. Thank you for your comment. I would suggest not lining the church tablecloths as that will help keep the costs down. Fold and press the side hems into position and chain them all together, as in run one side and then the other of each panel, then separate them. Fold in the bottom hem and do the same again. If you top stitch the top of the panels to the tabletop fabric it will hold everything in place as they will be easier to put on the tables so the seems will not snag on the table edges. what is dacron for? do we need to use it in upholstery for chairs?
@beinspired1487
@beinspired1487 3 ай бұрын
Thank you for your question. Dacron is used as a filler and smooths out most imperfections there might be on a chair, seat/back cushion, or chair seat. It puffs out the cover a little making the chair look more inviting and comfortable. Sometimes I am only replacing the seat cushion and because the older cover might have stretched I can shred some Dacron or use Polifil to fill out any corners. You will find putting the cover on a lot easier with a Dacron wrap as some fabrics have fire retardancy sprayed on them creating more friction with uncovered foam, it also holds the foam together when manipulating it into the cover. I use it on the arms and back of chairs when I am re-upholstering them too. I hope this answers your question, good luck with your project

I'm trying to understand how you put together the bottom of the curtain and the bottom of the lining. I see each are stitched separate. Do you tack them to each other somehow? or does the side seams keep them in place? Also do you use curtain weights?
@beinspired1487
@beinspired1487 3 ай бұрын
Thank you for the question. For these, I sewed the hems on each length of fabric. then place the lining on top of the face fabric about an inch higher so the lining won't show. Then folded the side hems in, pinned, and machine sewed them in place, this holds everything together. Then you can treat them as one piece of fabric for the rest of the process. Sometimes I do, but for machine-sewn curtains, I do not bother. I hope this helps and good luck with your project

Thank you for your comment. I should think it could add to the support by keeping the spring parallel. If the cushion can only be used one way then I would advise you to use 4" extra firm/high-density with a layer of 1" super soft/low-density foam on top, but still wrap the dacron all the way around the seat cushion as shown in the video. The black stripe webbing is for the back. Get the red stripe webbing.

Thank you for the information. I asked a couple of upholsterers about this when I first came to the US but they must not have known this or just didn't want to give information over to the possible competition. I will go through all my videos with webbing in and update the information in the description. I really appreciate this and it is nice to learn something new even after all this time.

Thanks! I’m going to do this. Our Great Dane has basically taken over one of our sofas. I’m fine with this as long as he stays off the other furniture. BUT, the foam in one of the seat cushions looks terrible, and honestly, the back cushions never looked good. They look like misshaped stuffed animals. I don’t even think they have foam in them, so they flop down constantly. I’ll be putting foam and Dacron in all 4 cushions on this 80” sofa. I appreciate all your tips in all your videos!

Oh, those fury babies we insist on having. I am glad you are getting good tips and the confidence to work on some of these projects, it is very rewarding. One of our puppies tore up a sprung seat cushion on the sofa which will be another subject for Project Video a little later this year.

Thank you for your comment. My editing just makes it look easy, as I cut all the bad words out, along with all the hair-pulling. Good luck with your project.
