I had my right cochlear implant activated in April 2003 and left CI in December 2011 which I had both done at Bristol Children’s Hospital. I felt the same as you with the second cochlear implant and felt lost about it. I’ve been getting used to it for the last 8 years now but I don’t wear it at home due to discomfort. I wear it all the time at the university and I am due to qualify as a nurse in September. I don’t use sign language but I’ve used gestures as a young age. I communicate with my speech as my first language. I also have the memory book of before and after surgery of CI. 😅 I loved hearing your story well done Benny 🎉

How can you hear it

I took ASL for two semesters and didn’t learn as much as I did having a Deaf Roomate and her Hard or Hearing boyfriend. I also found how the Deaf community isn’t always treated the best and see why they are proud of their community and being Deaf. I tried knocking on my roommates door to tell her that her boyfriend was here. He explained, what you might think is rude to you, isn’t to us. He opened her door crippled a piece of paper and threw it at her.
