I picked up one of these also. My understanding is that the knife parts where made in America and then the Stag and pieces where assembled in China. I know mine are absolutely beautiful and I could not beat the price. Thanks for sharing and God Bless. P.S. Mines a safe Queen too! LOL.

They are absolutely gorgeous knives and I believe them to be one of the best lockback hunters ever made regardless of who assembled them. But, I was told and believe that some were assembled at Ellisville and when the factory closed the parts were sent to China to be assembled. Those assembled in China had a sticker on the blade, unfortunately it was too easy to remove the sticker. So we will never know for sure where one was assembled unless it still has the sticker attached😢 Take care brother 🙏

Those calendars were cool! I also have a weakness for the equal end penknives. Imperial Prov USA was a short lived tang from 1946-56. Take this next part with a grain of salt... The introduction of the new tang stamp was supposedly a reaction to a post war legislation that required things made in the USA to be stamped USA. Imperial accomplished that by changing the previous "Prov. RI" that was introduced in 1936 to the new tang stamp. However, the "Prov RI" was still in use until up to at least 1952. Supposedly,1952 was the year when products needed to be compliant and this extension was allowed due to many companies (not just knife companies) having old stock on the shelves due to the sudden outbreak of peace in 1945. This is what I've read from a couple sources.

Hi I'm enjoying your Schrade series a great deal. Thank you. Could the size difference in the frames be because they were made in a different factory? Schrade owned Richards and Wostenholm in the UK for a few years.
@oldphartsknives9 күн бұрын
As far as I know, Schrade Wostenholm knives have the old English stamp on the Bolster. Also the Heritage knives are stamped USA ... I am beggining to believe that the Heritage knives made in the 80's where based in part on earlier Schrade Walden knives, but that is just a guess. Great history lesson! Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe "Major" Lee was at Harper's Ferry to put down John Brown's insurrection. Thanks for participating in the open tag!
@oldphartsknives12 күн бұрын
Sorry for any confusion, at the time that Lee served at the Alamo he was a Major but I always refer to him as general Lee. Same with Twiggs who was a Major at the Alamo but became a general. Also Lee was in line for a promotion but instead left the union to join the rebel cause where he retained the rank of Major. Like you I love history and participated in the Twiggs surrender re-enactment for quite a few years. Take care Tom ✝️ 🙏
