What his government made him do made him what he was ,Ethan told him " human life did Not matter to you at that point maybe it never did ,you blamed the system for who you are not yourself,at some point you had a crisis of faith " This could be Lane's chance to prove Ethan wrong beat him for once .Beat him by helping him win

Solomon Lane caused a gas leak that poisoned an entire village, caused a plane crash that killed a lot of innocent people all just to assassinate one person, he had the Chancellor of Austria and his wife killed in a car bombing, before that he had a young girl shot in the head in front of Ethan when they first met, he tried to create a terrorist superpower, his Apostles killed innocent people with weaponized smallpox, and he tried to cause a nuclear explosion which would've starved a third of the World's population. Before he even became the terrorist mastermind/anarchist he is now, Solomon Lane killed innocent people and used his status as an MI6 agent to justify his ruthlessness. Instead of blaming himself for all the horrible things he has done to Ethan and half of the world, he blamed the government he once served.
