Salaam, is there any rule for using “lahu” instead of “hu”. For example Allahummagfir LAHU war hamHU. One place Lahu is used and other just Hu. Jazakallah

It has 2 sounds. 1. with twisting the tongue and the other is with the 'Kh" sound. there is no 'Sh' sound. 'Chishal' (with twisting the tongue which is used in greater Kandahar) or 'Skal'. These are 2 different dialogues for the same word.

And like you said, the "ka" in "skal" doesn't make the twisting tongue sound, but it also doesn't make a " kha / خ " sound, it makes "ka / ك " (in my dialect). So, is this an exception for this word? Some people of literature also say there are 4 dialects in Pukhto, and I was wondering if this ك sound for "skal" is part of one of those dialects -- or if the word is actually pronounced as "skhal", and Pukhtoon in my area just started to saying the word lazily as "skal". Any thoughts on why ښ is pronounced as ك in "skal"?

Use Maa Haaza until you find out about the word if it is masculine or feminine.
