I see there is 12 stupid people out there but there gonna hate anyway this is pure raw talent with no computer's or any of that other fake shit Joe Cooley is the king of the West Coast & to be honest I don't think anyone from the East can touch him either he got robbed against Cash Money .. Cash is Dope but I think Joe out did him actually when Joe Cooley did his audition they never seen anything like it they where acussing him of cheating with his Tranformer Scratch because they never seen anyone do it like him .. My favorite D.J. hands down his scratching is out of this world he is like Jimi Hendrix with 2 Turntables .. West Coast top 3 Joe Cooley , Tony G , & D.J. Aladdin also considered the second coming of Joe Cooley ...

Hand down Joe Cooley had the cleanest scratches and the fastest hands I've ever seen on the 1's and 2's. Could you imagine a DJ battle in their Prime between him and Jazzy Jeff?
@jeanetteroberts44272 жыл бұрын
So DJ Cash, from West Philly was, if I remember, was a mentee of Jazzy Jeff. They did on a different 1987 contest/video and Cash won.

Joe Cooley is a oldschool kat....bad ass dj.one of his secrets to great wicked cutting and scratching was using the toggle switch on mixer.mixers of today that I seen don't have toggles.but the faders have a curve adjustment which is pretty good.

In Straight Outta Compton when Dr. Dre Scratched "Its TIme" it reminded me of this.

@Stephen Brown Correct, he couldn't. That's why they brought in Jazzy Jeff to record the cuts for 'Straight Outta Compton'

@@MrShowbizben I'm not doubting Jeff's skills but there must have been a reason not to ask Joe Cooley or another west coast legend to do that scene?
@MrShowbizben4 жыл бұрын
@@JMJC1 I don't know why they didn't use a West Coast DJ for it, Joe Cooley's a legend. I guess they used Jeff because he's done more of that kind of tv/film work and is a known quantity in those circles, but I don't know for certain.
This looks like the car show in San Jose. If it was I was the goofy looking white teenager who won the dj contest.

Great freaking mixing, love joe cooley.. but dont forget there is one DJ that mixed the best before joe cooley and after.. DJ Cameron Paul from San Francisco.. KSOL AND KMEL.. I think he's was one of the GREATEST DJ of all time.. he was the only DJ I knew that, while he was DJing in the clubs they had him live on air for the radio station in the mid 80's.. they will never do that again..
