I know right. It's sitting on my bench right now. It had fallen behind a cabinet. I was hoping it was going to die. A week later I moved half my junk to rescue it to regain a little piece in my garage.

Sure, looks like a fun project. I have two VW bugs and I love them. It is a lot of work, but oh so worth it, when you're driving the car down the road, and you realize that you made it possible. Like you said take your time, don't rush. Thanks for the video.

This weld bumps are alignment knobs for the steering box. I don't think they are important, grind them off. Type 2 have them especially.

I have done it both ways. Sometimes I use tar and wax remover or windex to clean the surfaces depending if it’s had grease on it previously.

I’m used marine trailer bearing grease. It doesn’t hold moisture. It the stuff they use in boat trailers.

Something that my uncle showed me years ago. You take a rattle can. Put it upside down. Place a brick on it for 30 to 45 minutes. Make sure the pressure is down. Take a can opener, bottom side up. Open the can. Paint ready to spray.
