A unique runner. Smooth, decisive, fast, seamless, efficient, powerful, but not abrupt, violent . . . no side hops, spin moves, hard jukes. Just pure acceleration with vision, intelligence, calmness and confidence. One of the most enjoyable running backs to ever play the game.

We always remember Tony and his 9.6 100 yard dash in the off season which wouldve been 9.4 maybe in regular season when in condition. He could really fly and the only guy that was faster was 9.2 100 yard dash Cliff Branch in the 70s. This there was a guy named Mel Gray for the cardibals that was a tracj guy back then. Of course Lofton too but i think Branch was faster than Lofton.

Almost EVERY Sunday, I watch some highlights of Fran before the Vikings take the field. He was a major influence on me growing up and I still love watching him. Well, it's a little less than an hour til kickoff for the Lions-Vikings game so I have to go put on my #10 Fran Tarkenton Vikings Jersey. A Vikings win gives them home field advantage throughout the playoffs. I really believe "the big year is here". That was the slogan for the UNLV basketball team who beat Duke and won the National Championship against Duke 103-73, Still a record for points and biggest spread of victory,

The Sonny Jurgensen to Charlie Taylor combo would lay the groundwork to other legendary QB to WR combos such as Bob Griese to Paul Warfield Ken Stabler to Cliff Branch Dan Fouts to Charlie Joiner Joe Montana and later Steve Young to Jerry Rice

Loved the skins back then, but I could never bring myself to 'hate' LT. I heard fans say he was an 'air' player (ineffective when constrained). I don't buy it. He exploded through a crease so fast that it LOOKED like he was getting no resisitence. It's hard to remember sometimes that, for a while, that whole division was brutal to the rest of the league.
@busterdee822811 күн бұрын
Loved the Skins in the Riggo years. But, I'm embarrassed to say that he was faster than I recall. When he pulls away from the backfield, you know something special is happening. There were times when winning almost got borring. Would love to be that bored again.

I was a speedster in my younger days and I tell you what, Tony Dorsett is the most beautiful prettiest runner EVER...I mean, he was fast AND quick, but he makes it look so damn good while doing it..... I can only wish that when I ran back in my days, my style look like Tonys..lol

An idiotic move not just because it was a cheap shot but also Ray Brown risked fracturing his hand, forearm or elbow. Referee was Gene Barth. They were easily recognizable back then, too.

One of the most underrated backs of all time. No wasted movements, just a north-and-south runner, incredible vision. Easily one of the 10 best of all time, though no one talks about him anymore. Thanks for making this video.

Bill Parcells named Dorsett the hardest Offensive player to scheme against. Blazing speed a very dangerous receiver and could cut block with the best of them if needed. Emmetts stats are better but as a Cowboy fan who watched them both I’d take Tony every day.
