I'm somewhat familiar with the area, my aunt and uncle have a cabin in the Poudre Canyon, and we always visit the Chambers Lake/Long Draw Rd area. I'm about to go for a week in October. We are bringing a decent size gooseneck camper. I was wondering about where would be a good spot to park it? It looks like all the actual campgrounds cost per night, is that correct? And am I understand correctly that dispersed/roadside camping is pretty much free and wherever you can find a spot? Thanks and great video! Love it out there!

Thanks for watching! I’m not real sure as it’s been several years since we have been in that area. I can tell you I remember the roads where we went I wouldn’t want to pull a fifth wheel up, but I’m sure there are other places in the area. The area we were at I think was only free dispersed camping I don’t remember any pay site but I could be wrong. I wish y’all good luck , happy and safe trip.

@@hydesoverlandadventures Thanks! We are aiming for a free spot. I think I found some spots on Laramie River Rd just north of Chambers Lake. Looks like plenty of pull off areas. I'm sure we'll find something. I've been to that area multiple times, but we were always staying at the cabin down near Poudre Park. Thanks again!

When it comes to installing the lights/ lightbar, did you just use cables to extend straight to the battery? Did you need a ground?
@hydesoverlandadventures
@hydesoverlandadventures 3 ай бұрын
We connected our light to a switch/relay unit, so I extended them to the output on the relay and yes the relay unit itself is grounded. And all we had to do is hook the positive and negative up on the appropriate output relay that we wanted.

Thanks for sharing. I’m looking for some dispersed camping sites around Durango/San Juan Nat Forest this summer. Awesome! question, when camping out like this in Bear country, what do you guys do with your food leftovers, pots, scented items and trash? Bear container? Hanging bag from a tree?
@hydesoverlandadventures
@hydesoverlandadventures 6 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! We really don’t do anything special. Food stays in the frigid and we will put trash up inside the vehicle (now trailer). We will wash up any dishes and put away after each meal. We tend to be a little bit more cautious being in grizzly country. That being said I feel like the dispersed camp sites are not being hit like actual camp ground site maybe just the fact that there is less people and food at the dispersed site, but they can show up anywhere. We always have bear spray close by and are always on watch. Happy camping and thanks for the question!

Did you use the two brackets(only supplied brackets) that are suppose to go on the outside of the frame? I’ve tried fitting them, but the power steering hard line mounts are right in the way on both sides. At the bottom of the plastic bumper, in the corners where it meets up against the Vijay, more expensive brands come with a bracket and screws to tighten that area up. Even things out and keep that from flapping around. This one doesn't have those. Did you fab up something or is it really a non issue?
