Was just watching old videos. And now I want to make a game with a guess who game. 😂 The traditional came with cards of all the faces, so I want to draw a card or two each month, and find a book with a character that has that name. 😂

As a Texan, glad to see you have lots of TX books, wish the US wasn't so dominant. I get why, if ever you need Earthbound suggestions please reach out with your preferred genre. Otherwise, excited to see how you progress.

I think 4 stars is by far my most common rating as well. For me 3-3.5 is fine. 4 is good. 4.5 is really good. 5 is amazing. It's like a bell curve for grades but skewed to the higher numbers because I never have a 1 star (I'd have DNFd a book like that) and almost never have a 2 star (quite likely I'd have DNFd those as well but maybe needed to finish for book club or something). Tell your son that you're just good at picking good books 😜
@TheReadingandWritingLifeКүн бұрын
I love the thought that I'm just good at picking good books. But I'm the same as you, if something was going to get 1 star, then I just DNF it and don't rate it, so I just don't have any. I'll just be fine with giving things higher than average ratings! :)

Now that I think about it, you're absolutely right about translated books, they usually are historical and literary. I don't know if Scandinavian mystery thrillers are popular in the US, but you could try Jo Nesbo for Norway. There's also Yrsa Sigurðardóttir who writes psychological thrillers set in Iceland if I remember well (they're quite brutal, so maybe check trigger warnings though)
@TheReadingandWritingLifeКүн бұрын
Thanks so much! I've heard of Nesbo, but not the other and I didn't have either on my TBR. I love mystery/thrillers, so hopefully I'll like these both!!

Funny thing about V.C. Andrews, she was an older woman named Virginia, and she wrote a few books, then she passed away in 1986 and they hired a ghost writer to complete two works for her and they just continued writing under her name.
