When I was looking for a saddle I looked at my trainers page and she had the one I was riding in and it was a 15’ so I put a 15’ in the cart

The measurement of the gullet is always done as high up on the bars as possible - the mccall you measuerd was a 6/34 :)

Hi can you advise me what style of western saddle would suit an older woman doing trail riding. I have an old knee injury that causes weakness when rising to trot in English saddled horse and I want to change for my comfort and horse too. I am a medium build. Looking for a horse from 15.2 hands to 16 hands. Much appreciated. Thanks for your advice.

So i dat in saddle with 16 in finished seat and a 4 in high cantle . I test rode it i couldnt sit the canter and the bars of the stirrups were digging into my shins like i was being thrown forward. They did put a rise in the front. So not sure if i need a seat that 3/4 longer o to take rise down . I think i could fit 1 finger between my thigh and the swell. I am 198 pounds and 5'7

Hello Larry. Judging by the rest of the comments, people appreciate the information and it helped a lot of people out. Hence the name of the video, these are just for fun and to give information to our customers especially new riders. We are not trying to be the next Steve Harvey or anything. Just having fun and giving information. No need to be hateful.

@@SaddleUpColorado hey girls im sorry for how rude i was. And was proud to see the clip on bit ports. Good work. Now really study where there pressure and funtcution of a bit comes from. Explain to public how even lets say a 7 shank or s shank w a snaffle port is to harsh for a starting bit. Most think oh its a snaffle its fine.... not realizing the leverage and power in the shank. Proud of you two.....see you at congress someday

Or even better hear something deep for you ask your mom and dad and really study it study what the difference is between an English headset and I Western headset a lot of English Riders will start their horse off with a surcingle a lot of Western Riders will often do the same what is the difference between a surcingle and a running Martingale or running wise who called by some of us there is a difference in it a lot of Western Riders and trainers will use a running Martingale and you're saddle with a horse or a cold and said that their heads that way and there is a difference because an English horse and an English writer when their horses set in the poll they wanted to stay sitting at though they wanted to stay sit in the pool with their heads up that way all the time in the horse is never allowed free moment movement just head and their shoulders and the neck is always in a stiff moving their balance is always off as far as for our discipline I would hate to see an English writer trying to English horse try to get down & Kel as our horses do try to study the movement and the difference in them

I'm not trying to be a know-it-all or trying to belittle you I'm just trying to inspire you to learn stuff is it took me years to learn cuz there is a big difference and it took me a long time to learning I've been working working cow horses for years and I've been training for four years and it's very inspirational and very interesting to learn but for proper setting for a Cow Horse and for western horse is a difference between a surcingle and a Martingale and see if you can figure out the difference is very uplifting very educational have a good night God bless

Hi Ana! What type of riding do you do? It is hard to say without having you sit in saddles, but we would suggest a 13.5" to 14.5" finished seat based on that information. If you get into a saddle that is too big for you, it will cause you to sit in the wrong position, creating problems for you and your horse. Please feel free to visit our facebook page for more information and if we can be of any help just shoot us a message!

my horse is a twh, but he has a huge round rib cage and it almost makes his back totally flat. Looking at the trees you are showing, would no fit his back, because of how flat his back is. his back is short because the saddle has to be pulled back enough for his shoulders to move freely. I am stumped.
