I could have been in that mess, but I decided to sleep in. Found info that the road was closed when I got up to start driving. Well, I slept in intentionally because I was planning to wait for daylight figuring the road conditions would be better. Glad that I was extra cautious.

stay safe, if snow gets deep be careful running the car engine. it will freeze over the tail pipe and toxic emissions can go into the car and kill you. careful of snow drifts with the wind

Grow up! You have no idea what it was like to drive l80 back in the 70s. We didn’t have fancy trucks with traction control and all your of custom features. Back then you actually had to know how to drive in the snow and ice without stacking all the other vehicles around you.

Time to get out and go sense everyone is getting off the road best time to be out i love it let's me shake my petercar
@johnwang991410 ай бұрын
Unfortunately, for many drivers, there simply isn't anywhere to pull over. It's not as if there's enough shoulder for everyone to park and just parking alongside the freeway in such conditions is hardly safe from impact. The rest stops are only every few miles and can also only hold so many vehicles. Some people might cleverly pull over to a farmer's gate where the farm roads join the freeway but again that's not enough for any significant number of vehicles. Basically, you have to stay home and not travel on the roads at all to avoid getting stuck in such a mess, pulling over quickly becomes not an option. Remember we have more vehicles then there are space on our roads to hold them.

I've been OTR trucking over 34 yrs and its just not worth driving in a mess like that anymore drivers end up stuck on the road or even worse in a ditch or in a pileup then it cost u more money and u lose thousands getting ur Semi fixed and loosing thousands in pay a weak because or not working but ur spending hundreds in Hotel bills.
@frankblangeard886510 ай бұрын
This pile up could have been prevented with the invention of radios which would have alerted people to the coming bad weather and kept them off the roads. Oh wait...
@carrollbridges642710 ай бұрын
I agree but when ur following to close and going to fast for conditions u can't slow down anyway. Most drivers won't put a CB in there semi's anymore and I understand that to because drivers don't want to hear all the garbage on the CB and im done of them hell there not enough intelligence on the other end to even warrant putting one in a semi. I have 3 CBs in my truck right now and none of them are hooked up. I would rather die than listen to all that ignorance
