It honestly sounds like many people just don't go to conventions. People aren't used to waiting in lines or going to areas early, so you guarantee a spot. I hate that they still haven't resolved the RSVP situation, but that's the only serious complaint I've seen so far.

Terry was originally supposed to be a Street Fighter character but the original creator left Capcom and started SNK’s Fatal Fury

Yup. And ppl mistakenly think Fatal Fury was made in response to SF2, but that's not true. Both were in the works at the same. If my information is correct, FF was in development first, but came out later Fatal Fury was created as a spiritual successor to first Street Fighter, while taking a few concepts from Final Fight. The FF storyline feels more like it came from a beat 'em up.
