Thinking of going down the turbo charged route, looks more easy than yanking outa whole engine for a 2zz
@tariqschmidt14134 ай бұрын
honestly, 2zz will be way easier. I would not turbo this engine without pistons, rods, bearings and studs. Its up in the air how long a stock 1zz will last boosted, then you're looking at replacing the engine anyway. In hindsight I would now rather done an all motor K series with a dogbox or 2AR swap with the high comp pistons (NA)

Did it pull up those hills on the way back?
@tariqschmidt141311 ай бұрын
I didnt take that way back just the less steep side. I ran into issues with the CVT, upgraded to the large CVT but then ran into issues with the engine side cover plate coming off and dumping the oil out. to much weight and demand for these small engines. I should have used a 1000CC vtwin and large sprocket for this style of riding. Around 500 lb steel buggy and 350lb passengers was to much for the 440 and small cvt. Still managed 38mph topped out!

@@krazytexaskids1252 Hi, mine was at the CDI module connector that was under the rear drivers side plastic. a little pain to get at. It was the grey wire, i could pull the wire and it was like a rubber band. The copper wiring was broken inside. I stripped it and soldered it back together and used tape.
@krazytexaskids12527 ай бұрын
Wow that sounds hard to diagnose. Does the gray wire run up to the white module connector that’s in this video by chance? I got a tester light and tested circuits for e brake, foot brake, and throttle. I get one wire hot and the other wire not on e brake and foot brake. When they are engaged or on, both wires show hot. The black and white wires to the foot throttle don’t show anyone of them on either side of the connector is hot at anytime.

Why did it blow? Do you think a 1zz turbo is a bad choice for a street build?
@tariqschmidt14133 жыл бұрын
I think it's awesome for a street build BUT to do it proper (over 8psi) will require a decent amount of money and skill engine build, clutch, transmission, ecu, tuning ect. If I had to start again I would probably done a cammed NA k engine and dog box or 2AR swapped it and ended up saving alot of money.

The studs on the manifold to the turbo kept unbolting and cracking causing the turbo to come off and make no boost.

@@tariqschmidt1413 I’m not giving up on the zz series. I have a 2zz but someone destroyed it via bore and hone. No more MMC coating!!!! So that would be a darton sleeve deal. I love the 2zz but the design induces wear on the lift pins and the MMC is a nightmare, plus the oil pump issue. And less torque down low. So for the 1zz I’m planning to use MWR rods, wiseco 10:1 pistons, MWR retainers and springs, and MWR turbo kit, and all ARP hardware among other things. Going to swap in a c60 and hope it holds. I don’t plan to exceed 250whp as that’s what research has said is about the limit of the transmission. Not my daily, but I don’t want to build junk. I know this isn’t going to be cost effective in the slightest lol
