I’m building a catamaran style little trolling motor boat flat deck to get me to some of my fishing spots hv to cross ship chanbers etc. since my 21ft got stolen. As I am saving for a down payment. I made it kinda cool looking. It has a hydraplane racing boat front sponson angles inward 11” only for paddling if I had to abs angles outwards towards the back being bigger as to carry the load, and little John boat extra floaters, making a small 4’ long 10” wide at base angles outwards for sides for storage cut in 1 door on each one abs a marine cab and marine stereo w/speakers then I will build a 25 gallon bait tank to go onboard water inlet on bottom at rear of pontoon and outlet to dump or drain behind sponson foil. Made mine from a bd cardboard form and then fiberglassed 3 layers of 6% glass following up with one layer of 1708 biaxial glass, then fairing putty, and two coats of gel coat, To finish off. How did you get your pontoons so smooth? Did you fiberglass them? If so how many layers of what did you use abs gel coat or paint any fairring putty? Thanks

Do you see the heatwave? Teleconverters are made for close-ups at short distances, not to go to the other side of the earth!

The props a good foot under the water, looks closer because of the camera angle.

I find myself returning to this video...its really sold me on getting into vr and xplane 11 someday...perhaps we could try the greater Vancouver, BC area someday? I live near cyxx Abbotsford...maybe a yvr to cyxx trip? Thanks again for this video
@SteveSurgenor5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind words, unfortunately, VR in Xplane at the moment is not very good, certainly alot worse than it was when I made this video, the other two sims I play, Elite Dangerous and DCS have rock solid VR implementation, always have had. But for some reason XPlane has always had pretty lacklustre VR support, which is a shame. On the plus side, with DCS's long term plan for a world map and the fact they are starting to include civilian aircraft, XPlane may get a run for it's money in the future ! Then again, XPlane switching to Vulkan might help also. Anyway, I'm currently in the area with FSEconomy so I'll set up a flight in your area soon, thanks again.

What's the weight of the converter? Would the weight wear down the zoom mechanism of the lens?
@SteveSurgenor5 жыл бұрын
Pretty heavy, it sits on it's own rail assembly and isn't directly attached to the lens, it works in such a way that when the lens is fully extended it mates perfectly with the back of the converter. I'm sure I have a video on my channel showing the converter with an ax53, same setup just with a different camera, thanks!

Hello! I've been looking into getting an FDR AX-53 and I want to know if the Olympus TCON-17X is a good option as a Teleconverter. I know the 55mm threads should fit easily from the lens to the camera, but I'm curious about how clear the image looks while zoomed with the active stabilization on. I'd think there might be image distortion as the freefloating sensor inside the camcorder orients itself. Any information on this combo would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Do you use the VR controller yoke or throttle during flight for the DC-3 or the Super Cub vids you've made? I'm looking at getting some more 3rd party X-Plane modules for use in VR but I really want to use the controller you etc so I don't need anything except my controllers to fly etc. My biggest plane I hope it works on is the 727 Series Study v2 by FJS but we will see :P Regardless awesome videos for VR!

Are the throttle/prop/mix/flap levers grabbable in this via the motion controllers? (Considering buying this off of X-Plane.org)
@flybe1466 жыл бұрын
I think you did well with the touch controllers Steve, when you click the switches it looks to be really quite responsive in comparison to fly inside but I haven't been able to get at my PC and Xplane yet as I'm still recovering from surgery so I am just learning from you. I was very impressed with that piper cub you put up, that looks awesome, I used to fly one of those in real life so of course thats is my favourite. Please keep posting mate - really good stuff.

I was blown away by your video, I have a 1070 and can't wait to try it. Does the buffalo DC3 come with x plane 11? I have liked subscribed and notification is on.
@SteveSurgenor6 жыл бұрын
David Cornwell Thanks very much, no the DC-3 isn't included with X Plane 11, there are atleast two different models available, this is the VSKYLABS version which I can recommend, it seems to be getting worked on regularly judging by the updates, you can purchase it directly from them also. This was captured using Oculus Mirror so it looks even better live !
@flybe1466 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Steve, one more question, you didn't seem to have any problems with the touch controllers will you not use them if Larimar brings back mouse control for X-Plane VR?
@SteveSurgenor6 жыл бұрын
David Cornwell Not sure David, the only thing I don't like about having to use the controllers is having to put them down and pick them up when you want to flick a switch or pull a handle, since I use a joystick and throttle and prefer that control method, I put the controller on a little desk in front of me, and end up knocking it on the floor from time to time as you can't see a lot with the headset on, I like using the touch controllers but if they introduce a system of look and click, like in DCS, i'll probably use it, if it's just mouse control, your back to the same problem of finding the mouse every time you want to click a switch ! If that's the case i'll stick with the controllers, in a plane like this they are really easy to use as there are no switches behind the yoke. The only lever I struggle with is the tail wheel lock, it's right at floor level on the centre console, my desk prevents the sensors from picking up my controllers that low so i have to adjust my view, not a major problem, I'll make a video about this particular plane once i figure out how to start it !
@flybe1466 жыл бұрын
That would be great if you could Steve, thanks mate.
@SteveSurgenor6 жыл бұрын
Stelios Stelios At the moment, XPlane is more reliant on CPU than GPU, that is likely to change in the future, but I assure you, a 1070 is more than capable of running XPlane in VR, as long as you have a good processor, thanks.
